Tracy McGrady talks Kentucky in interview with Shannon Sharpe

Absolutely no one should blame him. He was in a terrible financial situation and offered 12 million on the spot. He 100% wanted to come to Kentucky. Not 1 single person in his situation turns that down. I have much more respect for him than many that have come through here for 9 months or less.. and were on the way out before they even got here.

I didn’t listen to the interview but am simply taking this opportunity to express an opinion. The whole sharpe debacle represented the lowest point of the Cal era at UK IMO and even in some ways worse then what Billy Clyde did to us. When that kid was allowed to do to us what he did, I knew then that Cal had absolutely no interest or respect of our basketball heritage.

These comments are probably misplaced for the purpose of this thread so apologies to the OP for interjecting. It’s just that kind of day for me. ;-)

I now see why this thread was misinterpreted. The actual interviewer in the video is ex football and Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe NOT Shaedon Sharpe basketball player.

My brain hurts from reading this thread
Reactionary gotta be reactionary and they gotta keep doubling down until given no further option.

People are ripping Shannon Sharpe for how he in their imaginations reared some Canadian family's kid.

"Honest mistake" I guess is the rationale with zero thought of how they arrived in such a place and will use the same "process" again maybe even the same exact error once it slips the mind again.

Again….apologies for my reaction and double so for popping off without listening to the interview. I’ll take my place on the back row now :)

I didn’t know that someone on this board actually thought Shannon was the father of Shaedon .

I thought everyone knew that was a joke lol

I remember watching the Cats playing Clemson and Dick Vitale was calling the game and he said the Cats have a good one coming in next year Tracy McGrady but he decided to go pro.

Nah I think someone said that a while back. That’s why I said it. Now the people confusing Shaedon with Shannon I don’t know. Not sure how you confuse those but I guess it happens.

Not sure how anyone confuses any of this really but it is rafters.

We won the 98 title without TMAC anyway. Now if this was for the 1997 season then I would've loved to have had him cause of the DA injury.

I dunno about that. That contract, that franchise, that amount of power, and thinking that he would get Tim Duncan was probably pretty much it.

For sure. It was Tim Duncan, some of his players from Kentucky he wanted to retain, and the control to do it from one of the best franchises and in his part of the world. They pretty much made it impossible for him to say no. He might regret it now but at the time there was no way to turn all of that down.
