Towns becomes only player in NBA History with 2000pts, 1000rebs, and 100 3s in a season

Towns needs to show up in the front yard of every coach who voted against him as an All-Star reserve, John Cusack style, blaring these statistics into their morning windows from his 80s-style boom box…

IMO he will be a better overall player than Davis before its all said and done.

I hope they're both eventually better than any other 4/5s of their generation. UK needs some historically great NBA players for a change. The remarkability of our program has been that our great successes have been accomplished in the absence of any historical top 50 NBA players ever suiting up for UK. I think under Cal, that changes when the rankings are re-made in a decade or two.

I'm consistently amazed he isn't listed as a top 10 player in the league. CBS Sports listed their All-NBA Teams. One writer placed KAT on his third team. Players picked above him were Anthony Davis (if he's listed as a C), Rudy Gobert, Marc Gasol, and Hassan Whiteside. Wow....

I think he's also the only player in NBA history to score 2000 points, grab 1000 rebounds, block 100 shots and make 100 threes in a season.

Just incredible. Won't be 22 'til November. Model citizen. Perfect teammate. Tireless worker. Yet to miss a game in his career (no jinx). Marketable. Face of the franchise.

He's going to be a Duncan/Nowitzki hybrid and it's completely ridiculous that that isn't hyperbolic.

KAT is awesome....anytime you are the first/only guy to do something in the NBA is insane.

I am sure because of his crazy work ethic that defense will be a focus of his. His defensive ratings are really rough right now.

KAT has a huge advantage in having an extremely solid frame. Some of the lankier guys like Davis seem to be prone to injury, but I don't think anyone has a more solid frame than KAT, except for maybe Cousins.

Look at that, name checked three generationally great UK players in just a few sentences.

Shockingly amazing what he is doing.

He made the right choice in College, and he is really building up on this.

So, question to everyone AD or KAT, who would you pick to start a NBA franchise?

True. I think a lot of that is youth and a lot of that is stamina.

He's playing every game and he and Wiggins have to carry that team offensively. Neither of them play much defense, despite both having the elite physical capabilities to be elite on that end. It's bound to be by design because the team needs them elsewhere.

whats with Cals centers all turning into 3 pt shooters......crazy...

People forget that's all Towns was heading into UK. He had to learn how to play in the post and be consistently aggressive at UK. It's paid dividends.

The insane thing is he really showed absurd improvements throughout the season. In the last 41 games, he averaged 28.1 points per game, and in the post-All Star break, he averaged 28.4 points per game and 13.0 rebounds on a 59.3/41.8/84.0 shooting split.
Dude could very well become the best player in the world in a hurry.

Anthony Davis was pretty much the same way in High School, he played more out on the perimeter then in the post. Cal showed the world what a monster he was in the post....

there was a pretty hilarious freezing cold take going around.

i think it was sam smith from chicago suggesting that his 10ppg at uk was his ceiling because in his first NBA game he got block by gasol.

epic stuff. sports journalism is the greatest gig going...get paid good money, see games for free and its your job to be wrong on purpose just to fire up fans to get interest.

Truly incredible. Hope the Wolves can turn the corner soon with that solid nucleus. Really want to see KAT in the playoffs.

In between being outraged about something every day. Important, world-changing issues like the start time of sporting events and kids being allowed to ask questions at press conferences. You know, the hard-hitting issues. As if the world is waiting to find out the final score and game summary in the newspaper the next morning and their deadline is precious.

This is exactly right and important point.

I think, this is also why i think KAT wouldn't have become KAT if not for UK.

At other school, they would have let him do a lot more spot up shooting and really keep him as is. One of the major adjustment he did post All-star Break is attacking the paint. He understood that he needed to control the paint. He also only show comfortable three, so while shooting less he made it at higher %.

That's an incredible accomplishment for anyone since it's never been done before but then you throw in his young age and just wonder what he will accomplish in the next 10-15 years, hoping he stays healthy.

yep. You put billions of dollars into something, and next thing you know people are making the inference that that something is Really Important, and further that since they are recognized experts, they must be Really Important, too. Even among the guys who make really good money for sports opinions, almost none of them wow you with brain.....
