Towles was asked by Kyle Tucker if he stood by what he said yesterday on the Finebaum show, and this is what he had to say.
"I didn't think it was going to be that big, (but) I would say it again," he said. "You know, I firmly believe that. I don't think I could be more clear with what I said, and I totally stand by what I said. I've just seen the work we've put in and ... I know for a fact that we that kind of talent and we have that potential, that if guys play how I know they can play, then we can for sure get there."
"It was as honest as I possibly could be," Towles said. "You've got people who think I'm crazy, and that's fine. Tell me I'm crazy all you want. I really don't care. At the end of the day, we're going to take our team, and we're going to play whoever they tell us to, and we're going to give it all we got. I think that, no doubt, we got the talent to win every game we play."
Stoops seemed to like it.
"I don't want a kid getting on there, getting on some national show, and saying, 'I hope we win a few games,'" Stoops said. "You don't say those things unless you put in the work. I think we're putting in the work."
Boom Williams:
"It's something we've believed in since the end of last year, the heartbreak of last year," Williams said. "In order to make that happen, you gotta have everybody all in, which is one of our core values and what Coach Stoops preaches. So we're all in."
Jordan Swindle:
"If you don't aim for it, you'll never achieve it. I don't care about the people that raised their eyebrows," senior offensive tackle Jordan Swindle said. "They're not in this room. So they don't know what we're doing; they don't know how hard we've been working. That's our goal for this year. We want to win six games, get to a bowl, and from there get to the SEC championship. I believe we have the tools to do it, and I'm supremely confident in our team right now."
Shannon Dawson liked Towles' confidence too.
"I loved it," offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson said. "I like the confidence and our kids do believe that."
