Really good interview..in it Pat said he felt that we had enough talent to make it to Atlanta (Finebaum has been repeating that every chance he gets and leading off every segment by saying Towles is predicting we'll make it to Atlanta). Finebaum and his callers have been laughing at the thought, but have been praising Towles as a player and how good of a leader he is. Florida fans and others were calling in talking about how impressed they were with how polished Towles sounded in the interview and how confident he was, but they've been laughing at the thought of us having a shot at Atlanta. The Florida fans have been ripping us the worst and seem to think they will not only beat us, but beat us pretty badly this year.

Have to say I love my QB (or any player) having that kind of confidence. Raising our expectations has been one of the toughest things to do around here because it's a lot easier to say "next year", but I love Towles' confidence..the only way we'll ever take the next step is to have a team full of guys like him that believe we belong and aren't satisfied with 6 wins. Finebaum really seemed to like his confidence.

I've really never understood people who laugh at lofty predictions made by a player(and a leader, at that). Do people really expect a player to not believe in his team? I'd rather our leader be incredibly optimistic about our team rather than pessimistic.

What if Towles went up there and said, "You know, Paul, we're still not that great. We'll probably win 6, and I'd be surprised if we won more than 7. 7 is probably our ceiling." What would people think then?

"I really feel like we will get to that 5 win mark again, Paul."

Yeah, I think it's pretty silly, and it's just a bunch of those guys from the southern schools on that show that think Kentucky is beneath them, I just think it's funny that Florida seemed to be the most disrespectful...and with Towles I don't think it was one of those deals where he was saying it and didn't really believe it..he sounded 100% sincere and confident, and he didn't say we would get to Atlanta, he just said we have the players to get to Atlanta. If you listen to Towles talk much at all he's always been really confident like that and the more I listen to him the more I think he truly believes what he's saying and isn't just saying it because it's the right thing to say or whatever.. Even last year he kept saying how he wasn't happy with 6 wins and wanted to win every single game and thought they were capable of doing it. Me personally I love my player having that confidence, especially my QB (who has the ability to back it up).

He grew up playing for one of the winningest high school teams in the country and is one of the winningest QB's in Kentucky high school history with three straight state titles (against stout competition) and a 38-1 record as a starter...he just isn't used to losing and I really think he feels like he can go out and win every game..I love that in my QB

Patrick Towles is showing confidence, maturity, and leadership. For fans who still criticize Towles over a segment of last year's schedule and just can't get why Towles is still the starter, read this interview and you will understand the coach's decision if anything can explain it to you. Every healthy, successful college athlete improves from 1 year to the next. Towles is saying in this interview almost exactly what Shannon Dawson has been saying - that he has had a great offseason. You can't win games unless you expect to win. This football program has come a long way since 2013, and Towles is 1 of the biggest reasons. I have no doubt that Towles and his receivers will be vastly improved. If our offensive line is also improved, we will score a lot more points and run a lot more clock this year.

Agree with your post entirely but where can you find a clip/transcript of the interview?

We really, really, really etc. etc. need to beat the Gators to make them shut the [uck] up.

But if we do beat them, their fans won't give us any credit, instead they will rail about how bad their game plan was, what poor decisions their coaches made and how uninspired their players looked - guarantee it.

Have to love her confidence in Patrick. To get to Atlanta I feel we would at least have to go 6-2 in conference without a Georgia win or 5-3 in conference with a Georgia win. Is it possible? Sure. If we are drastically improved on defense we can play with anyone on our schedule.

The interview was fine. Towles handled himself well. But if Finebaum "encouraged" any ridicule of Towles' lofty expectations he is a bigger tool than I thought he was. And I already thought he was a pretty big tool; you know, like Caterpillar Tractor type tools.

Peace

Oh yeah, trust me, he was definitely encouraging it and he was doing a bulk of the laughing. He was respectful of Towles during the interview, but as soon as it was over he was literally laughing at what Towles said with his callers and he kept putting the bait out there for his callers to take because he knew they would take their little sarcastic jabs at Kentucky

Anyone practicing field rushing would be amiss, to disregard the guards who are in much better shape for this season... I'm told one guy took off a good 75 pounds, so instead of avoiding him, you should go through him... I'm not saying it won't be a challenge, it will... These guards have their pride to consider... This year they'll be protecting a new field turf, and goal post.. Plus, several fans jumping onto the field, watch close for a sprained ankle... Just be in your best shape, if we beat Florida...If the guards can get in shape to stop you, you need to fight back... Plan your routes.. The quickest distance between two points is a straight line.... Always take a buddy with you, one can go low and the other go high, and your whole section will be open.. Sacrifice one for the team.... Good luck! Notice this section that is circled... They should be up on high ground.... Getting out of that hole could cause a good chard to turn into a disaster...
th

This is the kind of guy you need to lead every charge...

This right here looks good, but who ever is leading this section is messing up big time... These girls can't tackle anyone, the best they can do is, divert a guards attention... Not a bad plan, but I have my doubts...
th

Lastly, do not let this happen to you on the way across the field... Do not be weak, grab a football and hold onto it for the souvenir..... Good luck....
