He was ranked 16th a couple of months, ago, on another national listing, now this one at 13th (5th among SEC Coaches).

“247Sports' Take: Possibly the most underrated coach in America, there's a reason Stoops' name was attached to the LSU vacancy in November, a few weeks prior to his Kentucky Wildcats winning their 10th game for the second time in four years — a feat that's never been accomplished in Lexington prior to his arrival. He has always gotten the most out of his players and now, has strengthened Kentucky's recruiting at a national level. ...”

And that loss was after adding 3 four stars to our roster. And most of our fans wonder why I claim no coach could have won with the support football got the previous ten years from our AD. Then the floodgates opened from the OTHER football programs. Inconvenient FACTS.

Let's just hope and pray Stoops stays at UK for many more years. IMO he is a great coach. Can't wait for the season to get started !

SEC is fu of good coaches but I think it's fair to say an arguement can be .ade he is higher than top 5 at this point. But staying there is tougher than getting there. Next step is UK going to have to pay him like he is or someone else will.

Well deserved. One could argue he should be ranked higher considering what he's had to overcome in the way of program obstacles and the level he's built us into. We take that next step and beat Georgia and look out baby...
An East title would mean suddenly owning recruiting in the Midwest. We would start taking bread off the table in Columbus and South Bend more regularly, and we'd win more on the trail in Florida and Georgia as well.

How can a coach be TOP 3 in the SEC and not play in SEC Championship? By the way, what did the Pirate rank at Mississippi State?

Easy to answer the first part, have to upset one of the top 2 coaches to get there. The 2nd would have to be answered by someone who say the list. I personally don't think he is very high, in the SEC is a huge part of the job. Leech is so far out there kids don't relate.

There are some good coaches out there. Very solid programs. I'm thinking hard and can't come up with one other than maybe his mentor? Not sure of Iowa's status when he arrived. Jimbo? Stoops isn't done. He will win the east, and make the playoff one year. He isn't going anywhere as long as Barnhart gets his NIL ass in gear..

There are a few that are close. Matt Campbell, Dave Clawson, Jonathan Smith, Pat Fitzgerald. Tom Allen looked like he was until last year.
