Hard to say who is the best just after seeing this. wow. Anyone saying this was gonna be a "down" year is just wrong. This could be one of the most interesting years in college basketball we've seen in a long time. Gonna enjoy it but man this is gonna be interesting!

+1 for the name KennyCardinalPowers

I think it's a down year and i don't know why so many fans get upset when they hear people say things like it's a down year of college basketball. I will take a title from a down year every single year and it means no less or no more than a title from a great year of college basketball. When you look at the best teams in college basketball this year, it's pretty obvious the talent is way down. A team like Kentucky has the most upside and talent and we at times look lost. I understand most of this comes from Freshman playing the most minutes, but looking at the rest of college basketball, i don't see a team that i can say that team is going to be a force. I see good teams, but no great teams. Kentucky may change that opinion with more games played throughout the year. We have the talent to do just that. If we end up winning it all and we all agree it's a down year, it won't change my opinion on winning it all. It will still mean the same!

--this is my worry though which after watching loserville and now watching Puke makes me think this is gonna be a very interesting year.

UL isn't any good. We already beat Duke and they are not going to be better than UK in March.

Give the guy props and say UL is great, he is wanting some validation for the Cards. Cards fans are ecstatic to play MSU so close, I have gotten texts from these dumbasses that say we are back and are better.

Spartans are not that good, they have 2 players on team, I mean they are a make shift team with one great player in Valentine. They are not that good, Not number 3. I have seen 7-8 teams so far this year better, I would say Kansas is better and they lost to MSU. Duke, UNC, Mary, UK, KU, Vanderbilt, Purdue are better teams that I have seen this year. Izzo is great coach and they will be a factor but not a great team. UL is ok.
IMO

MSU Is way overrated. I would put them in the top 15, but no way top 5. no idea how Kansas lost to them.

No great teams = down year. Not a single team this year would be anywhere close to being a title favorite last year.

Count me as one who sees CB as being down this year; and I'm ok with that. It's just the way it is these days. Stil doesn't change my interest and passion for the sport in general. I will be just as happy winning a title this year as opposed to last.

I too think UL isn't very good. i think there are a handful of teams that are better than the rest - UK, KU,UNC, Maryland, MSU - them a few who are descent - Vandy for one; then there isn't much else.

Let's just enjoy the ball being played! Bring it all on and let's hang #9.....

And no, sorry, no props for your Cards bud.

MSU wasn't prepared for UL at all. The first 15 minutes they played timid and panicked . With about 5 minutes to go in the first half they were down by 13 and Izzo finally made adjustments, and what do you know, out score UL by 17 pts the final 25 or so minutes

that's what i'm saying. at this point it's impossible to honestly say who is ahead of who. last year we were the clear leaders but at this point from what you are watching right now and previously... it's impossible to say.

just trying to get a feel for what and who we are right now given the inexperience right now. i believe we shall probably lose a few but defensively we must get far far better defending the rim or we will not yield well at all.

I'll say this - Louisville is way better than their roster looks. I saw that your two best players were mid major transfers and wrote them off pretty quickly. I was wrong. Rick knows what he's doing.

But - your game with Michigan State, as a game between two teams that are clearly top 10 this year, was weak and unimpressive. If you watch KU and Mich St from the champ classic, MSU looked awful for the first 3/4. We've won every game by double digits but anybody who knows basketball can see that we are flawed. UNC lost to a mid major. Maryland has almost lost to multiple.

Yes, it is unequivocally a down year. If you think that any of these teams could last 40 minutes without getting embarassed by '15 UK, Duke, or Virginia with healthy Justin Anderson (or probably Wisconsin or Arizona), you need to back away from the basketball commentary and reevaluate everything.

Louisville is a top 10 team. MSU is a top 10 team. Kentucky is a top 10 team, sure. But the top 10 this year is not nearly as strong as it was last year - and no, the "early season" excuse doesn't close the gap. Last season, UK and Duke and Virginia were beating the bejeezis out of everybody at this point, ranked, unranked, didn't matter.

This . Boy the OP is out there man . This is the most down year I have seen in my 26 years watching college b ball ( I am 35 ). UL is not very good , neither is Mich St . Valentine is amazing and makes them a top 10 team but being a top 10 this year is like being a top 25 team last year. UL will lose 7-9 games this year but probably make the sweet 16 due to good coaching . If the 2 5th yr players are not on they are lost as that is the extent of the scoring though I think Mitchell will be a good one down the road.

I'm not a Uofl Lousyville fan dude. trust me....

Kentucky will shoot lay ups against U of Smell ! , Spartys point guard is non existent.

UL's bigs are so bad. Mahmoud missed some easy bunnies that could've ended up being the difference. Onuaku disappeared against a good opponent and Mathiang has no production at all. They have Lee and Lewis who probably feel like they are playing with a mid major roster, but because there are 2 of them they can mask some of UL's problems. UL is top 25 team and better than I thought, but as I said in another thread... other teams are gonna get better and UL has 2 5th years playing at their peak, Snider looks to have regressed, and no one on this team can replace Harrell in the frontcourt. Outside of Donovan Mitchell, I really don't see any potential improvement in their team. That same Mich St. team will be able to win by 15+ at the end of the year. Just don't see the cards as anymore than a 5 seed.
