Todd Grantham to the Raiders?

Hmm, not sure how I feel about this. On one hand I think the guy is a good DC but on the other hand he has been known to be very difficult to work with and play for. Word is that he was going to get canned at UGA if had not left when he did.

i hope they keep him. his contract and coaching are not a bargain at this point. he's a smart dc but im not sure that he is a good coach for college. what ever is worse for ul though im cool with. lol

meh. I'm sure they will pay big to get a good DC replacement if he left. with Grantham they already showed they will pay WAY WAY above market prices to come here & deal with Petrino (dont forget the reports that Petrino & Grantham already were on the outs before their season even began).

The timing is bad for them this close to signing day.

Plus, it is really late to get a new DC.

Bingo. Of course with all the criminal transfers from TCU, UGA you really don't have to worry about them jumping ship because no one else will take them.

Its vintage Grantham. He did this every year he was at UGA, right before signing day his name would pop up as being on the short list or favorite for some NFL job. I don't think there is any doubt he is very knowledgable about defensive football, his weakness is teaching/coaching to college kids, he ignores fundamentals. He wants back in the NFL, if he doesn't get there this year, it will be the same thing again next year, just as sure as taxes.

working under a defensive coach like Jack Del Rio doesnt sound like a great path to land a head coaching job in the future IMO

any good defensive play by the Raiders will be credited to the head coach, not the coordinator

Any idea how that would affect UL's recruiting if he leaves.
Probation offices don't lose clients, they just get a new officers.

And if development isn't his thing and he's a plug and play guy then he's staring down the barrel right now. Strong recruited and developed his defense well but we're seeing that filtering out with not much coming in behind unless grantham can turn it into something himself. That being said, I hope the guy stays there forever but my guess is he'll get out if he can get another job before someone sees this next batch of kids coming through. I'm not saying they'll be horrible, but this year was as good as it gets at ul on the defensive side...even though they were exposed a bit by a few teams that maybe their conference helped them out some.

It makes sense really. The teams are very similar. One team is known to bend the rules, to take the cast-offs that have been kicked off other teams for assorted crimes, to play dirty, to talk $h$$ no matter how bad they get beat. The other team is the Raiders.
