No since it is obvious Cal cannot teach defense, he should have hired a defensive specialist on his staff and turned the defense over to him.
Yes, I agree with that. I wonder just what the other coaches he has now actually do?
The middle school girls team i used to coach, played better defense than this team did tonight.
Defense is all about gritting your teeth and using techniques taught to you by the coaches to look the other guy in the eye and not allow him to beat you. It's about dominating your opponent not about thinking of the shot you'll take on the other end. Some people don't have it.
... that team played hard because they were coached to play defense. This team isn't "coached" ... at all.
There is nothing in the last 15 years of Cal's coaching to suggest that he would switch to a high pressure, high risk defensive style. Players watching how that team played and internalizing their style would only confuse and lead to frustration when they get corrected by the coach.
Jesus Cal try working in some zone. This group is just not able to play m to m the whole game.
You always talk about demonstrated performance. It’s been strongly demonstrated this group struggles with the m to m defense.
