UK has their team for next year. UK got the best Center and PG in the class. They got a very good shooter from JUCO in Mulder. Got an underrated wing player in Matthews. Lee will be improved, Poy will hopefully be recovered. Willis and Hawkins will add depth and of course they will the best floor leader in CBB next year in Ulis. Just be cool.

Don't see it. We have seven legit players. Pray for no injuries.

I predict we go 27-9 and lose in the sweet 16. A season that I for one would have been absolutely fine with had we done what we were supposed to do this past season, which we did not. Nobody will ever convince me that we should not be the defending champions entering next season; so, now we have to endure a sub-par season coming off the biggest disappointment of my lifetime in regards to sports.

2015 might have the best future pro in Skal but other than that gigantic advantage 2010-2011

Not sure about Briscoe and Lamb. Briscoe is rated higher than Lamb was, so its hard to say.

Lamb is definitely the better shooter, but Briscoe is definitely the better ballhandler and better scorer. He'll be a better defender and better passer.

The rest are about right, though.

Also keep in mind that we are comparing a Freshman Knight to a Sophomore Ulis, which narrows the gap a little between these two.

And we tend to romanticize the past. That 2011 team had its issues, and went through many growing pains. Remember the "Knight is not a PG" arguments and "Disappearius Miller" comments?

That team was not very good on paper. After Kanter was ruled ineligible, we were all gloom and doom about the gaping hole in the middle. Harrellson was a Hawkins/Willis type contributor until that season.

Who knows who might step up and be that fifth starter?

you know, a LOT of what goes into the choice of a recruit is the FIT....not just whether or not he wants to play for UK, duke, unc, whatever......these kids get so much information these days, who knows what all is placed in front of them...it's a tough decision for any of them...

Hawkins is legit IMO. He's no all american but he's a solid role player. The jury is still out on Willis but he will have a opportunity for minutes this year.

This team will be ok but I would be shocked at a Final Four. But really, after the last several years as long as they just make the tourney and are competive throughout the year, I'm fine with it.

I do think Hawkins and Willis will contribute; Willis may drive us nuts sometimes, but the man isn't bad - and he would be starting elsewhere. Perhaps getting into a regular rotating and truly learning the rhythm of the game will help change things. Besides - and honestly answer this - is he worse than most thought of Jorts before his senior season?

Knight was inconsistent. Sucked against Princeton (first points were the game winner), great against WVU, sucked against OSU (again, hit the game winner), great against UNC, sucked against UConn (should have taken the game winner).

I don't see Willis playing much at all except for foul trouble.IMO our key for the season is one of Mulder/Matthews has to lock down the 3 position.

Agreed.

I have seen many silly and embarrassing posts on this board the last few weeks. Some people just act like little children. Be Men!

People remember the huge shots against Princeton and OSU, and forget the rest. Knight shot 26/79 in the NCAA Tournament. His only points against Princeton came on that game winner. He was 3/10 with 6 TO's against OSU. He had a flurry of points early in the 2nd half against UConn to get UK back in that game, then pretty much lost UK the game by trying (and failing, badly) to play hero-ball for the last 5 minutes of the game.

Knight was a far more of a hit-and-miss proposition than some people make him out to be. People get blinded by the scoring average, but ignore the fact that he took 13.5 shots per game (while shooting 42.3%), which is about 1.5 more than any other player who's played at UK under Cal. I liked that team, and I liked what Brandon Knight brought, but I'm not surprised that the "is he or isn't he a point guard?" question is STILL hanging over his head, even after 4 years in the pros.

Gigantic advantage? We don't even yet know how good Briscoe, Mulder, Matthews, big minute Marcus Lee, and full-time PG with a much bigger role Tyller Ulis are going to be.

The knee jerk crowd is funny. Oh my God, all of our players have flaws! The horror!

I think Cal will have a ball next year. Ulis will be one of his favorite players ever. The hard part will be keeping Skal out of foul trouble. Once he's out, we're very beatable.

Sorry, but what exactly do you mean? As fans we cannot stop anything. So, are you saying Cal needs to stop trying to find more players? Surely, that's not it.

I loved Lamb but later in the season his first year the defense started being being physical with him that bothered getting his shot. I don't think Briscoe will have that problem.

Just think folks need to stop worrying about who UK didn't get.I'm not talking about what Cal should do. Can't keep fretting over who went where. Keep seeing posts about what might have been said or done to prevent UK from getting player "X". What does it matter? Even if you knew, you can't do anything to change it.

UK will have a good roster. Will it be like this year's? No. Doesn't mean they won't be a contender.
