time for idiots to stick their head in the sand and act like nothing is wrong
Too many flaws in too many players. Some can't defend, some can't shoot, some can't shoot freethrows yet drive wildly into the lane, some think it is time to take over when they're 5'3" and drive into the paint repeatedly throwing up wild shots instead of finding open shooters. Just a whole lot of flaws doing the wrong things at the wrong time with the wrong people.
There's a difference between acknowledging this team for what it is and screaming "FARR CAL" and jumping off the nearest bridge.
Sky isn't falling. The truth is 8 players turning pro off a great team ... A weak freshman class coming in ... and no post scorer at all means that this team is not very good. They are not a Top 25 team, although even in loss I have seen improvement over last couple of weeks. However, lots of work before this team is a danger to make a NCAA tourney run.
The sky isn't falling. We are poorly coached, run no offensive plays, and our players for the most part are too cool for school.
I actually agree with the OP. I'm not a sunshine pumper. We're not good this year and there's little reason to believe March will be very interesting.
Here's what I see. This is Cal's 7th season. His first 6 brought us 4 final fours, 2 title games and 1 championship, as well as one of the best and most fun UK teams I've seen as a fan (2010 obviously).
If we're not good this year - fine. Not thrilled about it. But don't you realize that most ANY other team would face multiple years in the NIT after the talent we lost last year? How do we look for next year? I can live with this year.

This. You nailed it in another post as well when you said this is a poorly constructed team.
I will take periodically over frequently which is what would happen with the 3-4 year rebuilding model.
save your excuses because the experts thought we had enough talent to be preseason ranked #2. You left out poorly coached team because there are some coaches that wouldn't be too prideful devise an offense and defense that would give this team a better chance to be successful. It is all about trying to devise a system that matches your talent instead of trying to force the wrong talent to match your system.
It doesn't matter how the talent compares to Cal's previous teams because this team certainly has more talent than the teams that they have been losing to.
The teams that this team has lost to has shot the lights out against us. Auburn was banking 3 pointers in, hitting 3's falling away. I will say that this team doesn't have a killer instinct. We get up by double figures and can't stretch the lead.
That is normally what happens to team don't play defense very well. It is smart to mix up your defenses if for no other reason it requires the opponent to spend some time trying to identify the defense so that they can run plays against that defense. We are so darn predictable that it takes all of the guess work out of it and it never pushes our opponents out of their comfort zone.
I will agree with you on that. But I'm not the coach and we all know what Cal thinks of playing zone defense.
