NBA needs to remove the east / west sides for the playoffs. Take the top 8 teams in each the east and west and seed them 1-16 (based on record).. the celtics are the #1 seed in the east and I truly believe the blazers would beat them. Rockets, warriors, spurs, jazz, and clippers are all better than any team in the east. The cavs are the only team in the east that could even compete with the west but even they couldn't go to the finals but once every 3 or 4 years in the west

that's not even the problem.

It's more to do with regular season being meaningless. Why is Boston even #1 in the east...?

There can be more than 1 problem. The cavs are penciled into every finals for the foreseeable future, regardless if they are even a top 3 team in the league. The western teams have to play good teams and struggle through 3 series just to get to the finals, and whoever comes out of the east will have played cupcakes and more than likely be a fresh cavs team. It's pretty much like duke drawing an easy bracket every year and U.K. Being in the hardest.

What if the first round consisted of best-of-sevens, the second round was best-of-five, the third round was best-of-three and the finals was a one game winner take all on a neutral court.

of course there are more than one reason for the problem. But seeding to be is hardly the problem.

Also, i don't believe that all the teams you named would beat east teams. Warrior and Spurs are good. I could see wizard beating any of west team except Warrior and Spurs.

I also like Bucks future with Giannis.

East is weaker than west, but not that big of a deal.

The bucks do have a good future.. I actually got a chance to watch them live this season when I was in Milwaukee for business. Greek freak is awesome! I just think it's much more tough to get through the west (west has had a better overall record vs the east like 15 of the past 16 seasons. Seems as though it would make sense to try to even the playing field.

Apparently you do since you took the time to respond. If you take time on everything you don't care about, you probably have a miserable life.
I have a wonderful life but I could care less about the NBA and many people on here feel the same way.

Why do you follow the NBA? They are responsible for the one and done! If you want to change things, then don't watch or buy their apperal till they eliminate the one and done!

That's the idea guy! At least 2 years in college. Why should any UK fan thank the NBA?

Do you not understand that the NBA is the reason we have the one and done!

It's never going away, so you might as well forget that. The NBA is already more popular and that's not changing anytime soon. If it wasn't for the rule a lot of the best players would never play in college and my interest would pretty much go with them.

And a lot of the best players would play in college. So what's your point? If the NBA were to make it 2 years I think they would be even more popular. There are a lot of fans like my self who don't currently watch the NBA because of the one and done who might start watching if the rule were changed to 2 years.

Terrible idea. Regular season develops rivalries that ratchet up during playoff season. Next round we should have Washington-Boston, Houston San Antonio, LA - Golden State. You want to trade that for Toronto versus Clippers and Warriors versus Wizards? You could have teams playing with 3 hour time zone shifts in all four rounds? Five hour flights for a first round matchup against a team you've only played twice all season.

Plus more likely to get playoff rematches. Like Packers Knicks, Bulls Pistons. Always adds intensity and makes for bad blood.

This reminds me of the opinion we should reseed the Final Four. Because having bracket pools in the office were too much fun I guess.

Sports is to be enjoyed. Not a boring slog that only Spock could appreciate. It's ok if there's a hair of "unfairness" to it all.

Obviously if you were to do this you would change how the schedule is made. There aren't any rivalries worth keeping a flawed system around for.

Jalen Rose has suggested this for years. 1) Balance the schedule; 2) take the top 16 teams and seed them according to record.

So you would have Lakers, Clippers, Sacramento, Warriors play each other less. Dallas, Houston, OKC, and San Antonio would play each other as often as they play Miami and Philadelphia. I can only imagine how much attendance is going to sky rocket.

This makes a bad idea even worse. Good news. No more West coast regular season rivalries, but I do bring you Milwaukee vs Houston. Sure it's boring, but it's fair.

If you mean a lot of fans like you and a couple others, you're exactly right

NBA is way more popular. No one doesn't watch the NBA bc of the one and done rule. Maybe not literally no one but very very few. This is your pipe dream

I was at the Wizards game today and the atmosphere was insane. The NBA is alive and well

Add two teams. That gives you 32. Make four eight-team divisions. Top three teams in each division make the playoffs. The other four spots go to wild cards. So you might have six Eastern teams and 10 from the West.

To be honest: I despise the NBA. My son will want to watch and I want to drill my eyes out, but...

Why do people feel the need to make sure to go to threads they don't like to announce it? I just clicked the thread out of curiosity, but never thought to say to the OP: the NBA sucks dude, why are you posting it

It's a basketball board! There's going to be UK talk, Pitino talk, NBA talk, Tubby talk...ignore the thread.

There were only 17 one and dones in the nba draft last year, and i believe 13 the year before.
I doubt the quality of college bball would be watered down very much if players went to the nba straight from high school.

Exactly. I love BBN but this board shows why so many otherness teams dislike our fan base.

I guess our rivalry with Louisville wouldn't be a rivalry if we weren't in the same conference .. oh wait.... and duke.. and kansas (somewhat).. as a matter of fact, our biggest rivals are outside of our conference.. no matter who plays who in the NBA, over a long series, there are going to be rivalries brewing.

Of course I know it is a NBA rule.....

Many here who complain about OAD want kids to skip college altogether, that would be bad for us.

And bad for the NBA. And bad for the kids. So why do so many people hate the rule? "Because I only get to see Anthony Davis for one year." Well boo hoo. Anthony Davis has a window where he can make millions. Every extra year he stays at UK shortens that window and puts it in jeopardy (see Djuan Wagner). The year at UK helps him immensely. It's a much needed step between high school and the NBA in terms of competition AND maturation.

With the way college ball is nowadays, a player is essentially taking an 'internship' year.

Cut the 1st round and 2nd round games back to best of 5. Make the conference and finals best of 7. NBA playoffs take FOREVER to complete now.

Until the NBA stops doing by far the best job of crowning a true champion of any league in the world, let's leave their playoff system the way it is.

I did not post that the NBA sucks. That is your terminology.
