Tide End s

Calling Phyllis sexy should be a bannable offense for anyone under 60 years old

We signed Conrad. The staff said he is a very special talent. The media hyped him. The fan base took his hype to extremes leading everyone to believe that we will have the 2nd coming of Tamme playing this yr.

But, in the end we have a true freshman trying to play along side an inconsistent line....with inconsistent WRs.....inconsistent QB play.....and a new OC who seems to be resistant to opening the playbook. It isn't likely that the TE will be a huge factor this yr.....outside of blocking out of the inverted wishbone formation.

Conrad is very talented though and should be used in the coming yrs.

Conrad right now is more of an H back. Think ex-redskin Mike Sellers. Except he caught some passes.

We all know the Tide's got some great looking ends. But I sure wish we'd pass to ours more. Yeah, yeah I know. They got to get open first.

I noticed last game Conrad is being used as a FB or HB. It really hurt in the running game. It SEEMED like we ran the ball much better with the inverted bone, with taco meat in the backfield.

Conrad needs to be on the LOS, as a pass catching threat as well as a run blocker.

I wished we would have kept Conrad in to help with our pass blocking, I was surprised we didn't see him in there more for pass protection.

He's a 230 pound 18 year old kid. I don't see him overpowering a 300 lb d tackle. Honestly, I'm not all that impressed with his blocking. Needs abou20 pounds of ass, the he will bring it

Hes just young. And if he lined up on the LOS, he wouldnt be blocking DT's, hed be blocking LB's or DB's.

Plus, the one pass target hes had all season long (iirc) was against SC and he really climbed the ladder fighting for the ball on what was a terrible decision to even throw by Towles. It was a pretty impressive play, even though he didnt haul it in. It was pretty obvious to me he needs to be targeted more.

Actually, both are often in that formation.

Seriously though I just dont understand why he hadnt been a pass option on 3rd down situations in middle of field.

WESTRY SAYS HI!
I don't understand what this means. I realize that Westry starts as a true freshman. I don't think that disproves the idea that true freshmen in football, on the whole, and specifically in this instance with regard to CJ Conrad's ability to pass block or otherwise impact the offense, are less prepared to be major contributors than true freshmen in basketball. Which was my point. I wish people would quit acting like the fact that CJ hasn't been a force in his first three games as a true freshmen means anything at all. Which was the implication of my point. If you follow.

HI CHRIS!!

Just saw the Giants fake a handoff while TE just released for about 10+ yard game. When we get into run mode need to throw this in everyone in stadium would pass out and the defense would not have seen this play

He has been sent out in routes, Towles hasn't thrown to him. We're not going to run a play where Conrad is the only downfield receiver so Towles has to choose to throw to him/he has to be open.

And he has blocked pretty well for a freshmen. Not sure how he hasn't, really

As a tight end, most of his routes will be in the middle of the field. Which means he probably won't see the ball since we never seem to throw it there.

There is really no mystery why the TEs have not been used more frequently...the Cats seldom line up in a TE set. I'm talking about a "true" TE, attached to an OT; not an H-back. In passing downs they are usually 4 wide and in other downs seem to love the 2 wide diamond set. Not every play of course but most of the time.

In support of a post in another thread on this subject I quickly went over the first half of the SC game (probably best half of offensive football to date). IIRC, the Cats ran about 40 plays and used an attached TE 10 times. Just re-watched 1st half against FL. Cats ran 28 plays (including plays nulled by penalty) and used a TE set twice. TEs usually have their best moments in offenses that like the play action passing game; haven't seen much of that from UK.

Peace

I'd like to think the title error was just a joke, but unfortunately I've read enough of Buckkiller's posts to know it's probably not.

Why is that? It drives me nuts and makes it that much easier to prepare for us. D coordinator of opposing team can say pretty Don't worry about middle of field in passing game cause Kentucky never throws the ball there and oh yeah dont worry about covering Tide Ends either they don't get them the ball either. Makes defense easy when its a handoff, deep sideline route, or a sack. SMH!
