Loved this kid.
The stare downs were epic.
The stare downs were epic.
He was so athletic for a 7 footer. I bet he could have even played football.
I loved WCS. But he really wasn't that great of a rebounder, good but not great. We could sorely use a WCS type defender/rebounder...
He'd be the leading rebounder this year and more importantly an alpha who could defend and guard 1-5 on a switch.I loved WCS. But he really wasn't that great of a rebounder, good but not great.
His per-30-min rebounding stats by year were:
7.9, 7.7, 7.4 - but he was often on the court with other good rebounders (Noel, Randle, Towns), so he was better than those #'s indicate
In comparison, other UK Cal-era bigs were:
Cousins 12.6
Harrellson 9.1
Davis 9.7
Noel 8.9
Randle 10.1
Towns 9.5
Lee 7.6 & 8.3
Skal 6.0
Bam 8.0
Vanderbilt 13.9 (not really a big, but I had to include)
Richards 9.0, 8.3, 7.9 (actually got worse each year)
Travis 7.5
Jackson 9.6
Sarr 6.2
Oscar 14.3, 12.2
Onyenso 8.0
Bradshaw 6.9
Ivisic 9.6 (but still a small sample size with just 81 total min)
Grrrreat post!! Thanks

I agree. He'd be the leading rebounder this year and more importantly an alpha who could defend and guard 1-5 on a switch.
