Thoughts on the freshmen that played last night?

It's hard to get a read on them because usually you only notice them when they make a mistake or make a great play. I will be interested to hear what Stoops had to say.

Westry was out of position quite a bit in run support. Stoops let him know about it too. He did pretty good for a freshman in pass coverage though. Conrad had a couple good blocks and a good blitz pickup. Big George more than held his own up front. Had a great pancake on one of our runs when we were up and trying to run some clock. All in all I'd say our freshmen done pretty good. I think Conrad will get some balls thrown his way at SC next week. I think we will use the middle of the field more against them.

Ware looked good on some runs but got sucked in on some as well. Eli looked really natural on a couple plays and I love his upside. Allen really needs a rs and where was nico the whole game? Thought he'd get some reps.

Ware and Jones really struggled at times. They picked on them for both 2 pt conversions. Ware was in position to make some plays but whiffed on one critical 3rd down when the ULL player made a nice cut. They are true Fresh and have the athleticism needed to improve and make a difference. ULL took advantage of them as a good staff will.
LB is a tough postion to play. Experience will turn them into solid contributors down the road.

they all made freshman mistakes. George missed a few off the corner blitzes, and at one time was helping block the same player as was the center and guard, while his man ran free to the QB. saw some good, and saw some bad. they are freshman, and for a few of them, this time last year, they were going against players who are now working at McD. Not going to shoot them, or give up on them, but I'm not going to say they played a great game like some are saying.
