This will make you feel old.

I was his age when I watched the worst thing I ever witnessed as a uk fan, that moment shall not be mentioned in my comment. He will look good in uk blue like his dad

Already Rick Pitino, who coached his father at Kentucky, has begun to make Mashburn a priority, and also the three power in-state programs have been very active in the recruitment.

As much as that turd can leave and bite the tail of an angry wolverine, it wouldn't shock me if the kid went to UL. Mash was always a Pitino guy. He's a 2020 recruit though. Plenty of time to see how things shake out there

Entirely possible. Hadn't considered that.

Well you can bet if Pitino is there the kid will most likely too. I hope people understand that Jamal and Rick are business partners in car dealerships Bloomin Brands restaurants etc. They are closely connected

Yep people forget that his dad came here because of Pitino and he probably has as much or more loyalty to him as he does UK. Don't get me wrong, Jamal is a proud UK alum but his relationship with Pitino is personal and carries weight.

My money is on Louisville. Commitment soon?

That is my guess. Mash loves UK, but, he loves Rick more. He is partners in business with him, and look at the photo the OP posted. If you notice, Rick is in the background. Unless UL would lose accreditation, that is where he will be going.

I'll take the players better than MJ. If ricks recruiting him he's a high end 4 star at best

among elite coaches, is there a worse judge of talent than RP? usually if Rick wants him, it's no big deal not to get him.

Mike Flynn's kid went to Louisville. James Blackmon's kid went to Indiana. I don't think kids want to go somewhere and be compared to their father.

Relationships are valued more than school where your Dad played. I think Mash is UK blue thru and thru but relationship w Pitino will win out in long run with the Jr. If and huge if Pitino is still coaching.

People keep talking about the relationship between Pitino and this kid's father. Nobody really knows the relationship with Mash Jr and Pitino.

There's a chance that Jamal Masburn, possessing all that common sense and decency will let his son make his own decision on what school he will attend. Maybe the kid wants to stay in Miami. Maybe he grew up a die hard UK fan. Maybe he has a personal relationship with Pitino, who knows.

Maybe he wants a long NBA career like his dad had and wants to go to whatever program he thinks will showcase his skills for NBA teams.
