This particlular 3 Guard offense does not work

The Starting 5 needs to be Ulis, Briscoe, Poythress, Lee and maybe Skal, though I struggle to put him in there. Humphries might be better

This team has chemistry issues. I'm not sure what has happened since early in the season but there is just now flow to the offense at all.

I don't blame Cal, but Murray just is not playing anywhere NEAR what I thought he'd play. That is a big part of the problem.

I know why. They came to Kentucky because its Kentucky and they didn't think they needed to work. That's why they're playing this way. That's why we're soft. That's why we suck right now.

Hopefully that's something that Cal can work on as the season goes along, but I doubt it.

A 3 guard lineup works just fine if those guards can SHOOT. If they can't, then you end up seeing what we are seeing now....an azz spanking in progress.

We have no low post threat and no outside shooting right now so the defenses are just collapsing. Then our guards attack a glob of humanity inside and we lose it or force a bad shot. We have serious problems right now.

Because Cal isn't a great coach, but he is a great recruiter.

The complete lack of inside game is killing us. Skal, Poy and Lee SUCK and I mean SUCK on offense

It definitely doesn't work when your 3 main guards have all been point guards/primary ball-handlers their whole lives and now at least two of them have to play off the ball.

Whats appalling is that we had great chemistry in the beginning of the year. Whose knows whats going on

Not many great coaches in the history of the game. Wooden, K, Rupp, Knight, etc.

Cal is a very good coach, and so is Pitino, Roy Williams, etc, but I do not consider many to be "great."

I am not liking our three guard offense either...because two of them cannot shoot. I am not sure what Briscoe and Murray do for us right now when both are on the court. I'd try Poy Lee and Skal with Ty and one of the other guards who can shoot.

It is always the players. Based on your theory, why wouldn't players think they could go to Duke and not work? That isn't the issue. The issue is trying to force square pegs into round holes by bringing in a stretch four type player like Skal to play with his back to the basket. Skal is more suited for pick and pop but Cal isn't flexible enough to make that adjustment.

Briscoe's man is basically sitting on the FT Line and there is no drive angles nor post up guys with so much traffic....you have to shoot the ball at 2 spots on the floor at all times. UK has only Murray (at times) and Ullis (at times).

Why Willis doesn't get more clock is beyond me at the SF spot. The Briscoe thing at SF isn't working.

This team continues to do the same thing expecting a different outcome no matter how obvious it is to everyone else that it isn't going to work.

I'd play Labissiere at the SF spot right now--he's got a decent looking jumper. Ulis is killing the offensive flow. He dribbles, dribbles, dribbles..............and dribbles. Dribble to attack....then his inability to finish and his lack of pulling trigger on wide open 3's. UK guards act like they get more pts for degree of difficulty--just go up and shoot the ball. Briscoe plays hard and is a tough kid--but he's offensively limited for his size. Put his game/heart in Poythress and you have a Lottery Pick.

LOL

Murray needs to step up and play better. Plain and simple. He's not giving us what he's capable of. Missing shots is one thing but not taking good shots in order to force a bad shot is quite another. That's what he's doing right now. It's almost like he's not allowed to catch and shoot.

In three years Lee hasn't developed any kind of low post game other than a dunk. This team needs everyone playing well to succeed. That's not really a good thing.

I'd go with Ulis and Murray and let them develop consistency. Briscoe has one move: Charge to the basket like a bull and try to get to the other side of th basket.

What do you think we'll be ranked next week? The whole body of work is below my expectations.
Probably below everybody's right now but that doesn't mean Cal's ready to give up. He see's them every day and thinks this way will give them the best chance to peak in March. I addressed your statement about Ulis as 1 of 3 guards. It has looked pretty damn good sometimes and stunk a couple of times. Just part of the inconsistency of this young group.

lol at those thinking Murray is the problem. Bench him and we might never win another game. Those who suggest a different offensive scheme would be appropriate are likely to be disappointed. I'm guessing each guy just needs to be the best version of himself. Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead.
