Devastating loss. I had turned it off when it looked over. I always turn back on (just in case). Monk nails the three. I get excited, but had apprehension. He made that shot. I had remote in hand to click it off. Ball wasn't even through the net. Won't watch any sports for weeks.

I was so pumped to see Isaac having a storybook game that would be talked about for years to come. When unc called timeout down five, you could feel the excitement in the crowd. It was everything that makes Kentucky basketball incredible. I think we hung this one if we got passed them. Just disseminated.

It hurt, because the corrupt NCAA should never have let the bunch of cheaters play in the tournament, let alone turn Hatchet Boy Higgins lose.

It hurts because we were getting better and better, and started to play national title like team.

it hurts because that all came down crashing because of absurdly bad officiating...

I would have never guessed 2 months ago we would have had a legit shot to win the National Championship this year with those 3 losses in 4 games and how our D was just non existant but give the team credit they learned to play much better D and that changed everything and this team was a last second shot away from having a great shot to win it all. I am going to miss Fox and Monk those guys were special players.

I'm bitter for Hawkins and Willis graduating without a ring and consequently it makes for an extra level of "rebuilding" for experience, shooting (plus Monk and Mulder), and native sons as well.

Add the screwed feeling from the events in the game and knowing we had that right blend to get #9 and it has extra bite.

This one hurt but not like the Wisconsin loss. I didnt sleep for days. All night i sat on my porch with my dog, drank bourbon, listened to the coyotes hoping it was a dream.

Yep. Had this same conversation earlier with a buddy. Surprising how much this bothered me. Couldn't be sleep much that night. And here's the thing: I'd said for 2 months Carolina would win the title, they were favored over us, so no surprise there.

This group ended up being very likable - and who would've believed that a couple of months ago? They hardened into a tough group. Hard nosed, played good defense, all heart. Fox, in particular, I grew pretty fond of. Contra last year - Ulis was an all time favorite, but I didn't feel particularly attached to that team...

To be up with 7 seconds to go, no matter what happened along the way, and have it ripped with .3 left is tough. Fouls, refs, and years of fake classes going against them and UK still outplayed them for 39 min 59.7 seconds for a trip to final four.

The difference between winning and not winning a title can sometimes be as little as .3 seconds.

Score was tied at the end. If Maye had missed it would have gone into OT and both Fox and Willis had 4 fouls. I would not have liked UKs chances there.

You're right, I guess my winner mentality had me assuming we win in OT

No really, I just forgot it was tied. Was thinking Maye hit a 3 to win by two...but forgot it was a 2.

Honestly for me the worst losses in the Cal era were the UConn losses. West Virginia sucked, too, but we weren't IN the Final Four when it happened. In 2015 I felt like we were leaking oil with Booker's shot leaving him the way it did. And we were just playing tight. I dreaded a final with Duke and I'm sure the screw job would have been twice as bad.

Both times we played UConn I felt good going in, then just kind of felt this sense of dread as both games played out. Add the Chapman BS to the second one.
