This Is Why We Need Alex

The main reason for needing Alex is because he's our best post player but the other reason is its 5 more fouls from a competent player. I think all of our bigs have 3 fouls and there's still 3 min in the first half left. Plus we need his rebounding.:)

SC will make a push in the second half because we won't have anybody left to play over 6'7.

I am actually surprised that we appear to play much more efficiently on offense without Alex. But I also know just enough about basketball to recognize we will wish we had him at some point in the future based on match ups we will face. Hope he makes it back for the post season for sure.

And Cal is an average coach!

That's for sure we could have used him last year against Wisconsin.

Get Alex back, and this UK team everything it will need for a deep push in March.

UK will need him if/when they face teams like UNC. Yes, the offense has been great the last three games, but Alex at the 5 spot is critical from a depth and rebounding level.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to argue against that reality.

If this team continues to shoot 10-12 3's a game and shoot 40-50% it doesn't matter who's in he front court. Where we need Alex is when we struggle beyond the arc

We may get him back but he isn't the Poy of the 2014 ncaa tourney. His surgically repaired knee isn't 100% and now the other one is damaged. I'm not sure how much he has left to give physically. I think Cal brought him back too soon.

You couldn't look any stupider if you tried.

Did anyone say that we didn't need Alex?

Yep, Dr. Calipari signed off and then put him in the game way too soon.

Man Zay is bashed for ridiculous reasons. I never once thought he hated cal, I just think this board ends up making people chose sides, when in fact (ssshhhhh, don't tell anyone) there's this thing called, a middle ground. He can love cal, love UK, and think cal isn't a very good floor coach. It's ok. Chillax. Cal let's guys play and some people don't prefer it.

Just my opinion. But damn. Let's live and let live a little. Zay prolly got a bit carried away in the emotion of some down spells. I'm sure he would admit it. But f*** let's let the lynch mob die.

All in my opinion. Hang me if you must.

So we can score less or be frustrated by inconsistency?

Thank you. I'll admit the Cal thread from last week was posted out of frustration and heat of the moment. But I do stand by the fact that we need Alex. I don't know why some would refute that.

I'm sorry. Just getting to the board tonight, but what in the hell are you babbling about this time? I would normally say YES, we need Alex, if not for the fact that we're playing a bit better without him. It's a floor spacing thing, I think. It may be temporary, but we better perfect it because Alex may not be back. At any rate, I wonder if you'll ever learn to stop posting stupid threads early in a game that consistantly bite you in the butt later. It's becoming comical. "Oh look, Zaytoven made a post, let's see how dumb this one is". That runs through my mind each time you do it.

Of course we need Alex back,, we will need someone to fill in off the bench after the big auzzie, Lee, Hawkins, Willis and the little white kid that never plays until the last minute and a game all foul out.... because Alex doesn't even know if he's gonna show up or not. We've seen this way too much with Cal he plays guys out of respect for their seniority rather than their effort and production yields.....aka the Wisconsin game last year with the twins rather than with Ulis...if Ulis had started the 2nd half UK hangs #9, The twins sure didn't bring anything to the game and were struggling, I get it cal is sometimes too devoted to a fault but I still want him as our HC...... Alex on the other hand hasn't improved his game in 4 years since arriving at UK but we do need someone to fill in for the little white kid at the end of the game who can give up fouls.;)

Your entire life is a "heat of the moment" moment.

If it takes just a drop of trouble in an ocean of success to send you into panic mode, and you think that every single panic mode moment deserves a post, people will continue to mock everything you say.

we definitely need Alex - because when he chooses to, he really can play; plus - he IS five more fouls
But, as many have said, he's inconsistent - I think he's more frustrating than Skal because we HAVE seen Alex beast it
I know he's a senior, but he should come off the bench. Have maintained for a long while that part of Alex's problem is that he thinks too much instead of just letting the game come to him. Coming off the bench gives Alex time to get a feel for the flow of the game, how it's being called, etc. IMO he tends to play better that way

Just my opinion, of course

Bigs had foul trouble because officiating is, per usual, atrocious.

NCAA has got to do something about this, it's ruining every game. I like the notion of cleaning up hand checks, but they are taking this wwwaaayyyyy too far.

Alex is a luxury that, if need be, we can live without. The only player on that team that we cannot do without is Ulis, in my opinion. Having Alex is a definite bonus and I'll be glad when he returns and hope he contributes. But, his being there or not will not determine our fate in the end.

How many times has Alex walked before he dribbled or dribbled off his own leg or just dropped a pass in his 5 years??? It's frustrating to watch!! Do we need him? Yes. Do we "really" need him? No

I'm all with ya on the middle ground point. Some people just seem to log on just to let out their daily frustrations. However, you can expect someone not to get bashed when they start threads about how Cal can't coach. Someone that starts a thread titled...."So, you still think Cal can coach?" , deserves the bashing that follows.
