well, we have guards that are going to be all over the floor, and we have guys like lee and poythress where half their game is picking up awkward ricochets and stuffing them. i like the dribble drive idea by cal for this team. we either have briscoe or mathews on the weak side wing. that's ridiculous. we know ulis will strive as a set up guy and leader, waiting to bury those threes when he has an opening and lobbing all day, and murray has shown he can finish inside off the dribble. seriously if briscoe and matthews can get to the line and convert out of the dribble drive we will be lethal. we know they all can penetrate.
the best part is even if they don't convert we will get many put backs, outside of a dorsey/cousins type anchor, i think this team can be effective mimicking cal's '08 and '10 teams. we should actually have the floor even more spread because we probably have better shooters off the dribble as a group than either of those teams. bledsoe was better at set shots. so was anderson on the '08 team. our ability to create shots off the dribble (and convert) will be a major strength, and maybe cal turns them lose like the wall and rose teams. we'll see. it's just nice to have the ability to spread teams out and have the advantage. pick and roll sometimes crowds the floor, it depends.
i don't think we'll be as good defensively than those teams but i think we will be offensively. it's going to be very fun to watch. of cal's great teams, this one could potentially be the most unique in style. nothing against cdr, or rose, or wall, but i think we have better shooters on this team. and we still have plenty of athleticism in the post and on the bench.
