UK football signee Therrell Gosier dropped 31 points on the basketball court tonight. All 3 UK WR signees are accomplished b-ball players.

It is always a worry that when an athlete is accomplished at more than one sport that he might flip to his other sport. I wonder if these kid have been given permission to walk on to the UK basketball team. A kid that can drop 31 points on an opponent must have some very good skills.

I would be excited vs worried. Did you see the stat on Ohio States players that were 2+ sport athletes in high school?

Greenwood is a really good basketball player too. But we should not confuse this with whether they could actually help Kentucky's basketball team. Our roster is full of McD's All Americans. Calipari has all the basketball players he needs. Calipari has not let football players walk on because Coach is a believer in establishing team chemistry at the beginning of the season. Calipari has two goals, win the national championship and give each scholarship basketball player the best chance for an NBA career. He believes that adding walk on football players to his young basketball team in December or January would be an unnecessary distraction, and I can't argue with that. Some other schools do it, but they are not in Kentucky's position.

Your post seems to say that it is impossible that a football player could be a WO basketball player at UK. I do not believe that. Coaches sometimes help each other in the recruiting process and it has happened at UK before. The truth is UK has a plethora of WO players on this team that probably are not as good as Gossier or Greenwood. Who knows maybe Cal would welcome some WOs that could be a challenge to his SS players in practice and maybe even contribute down the road. IMO having a few football players on a basketball team can be a plus because they can bring toughness to a basketball team.

No, my post did not say that. I only explained why Calipari has not allowed football players to walk on to his basketball team. While coaches sometimes help each other, Calipari is not willing to disrupt chemistry on his team by bringing in new players in December and January. Believe what you will.

I want my football players concentrating on football, not wondering if I'll get 2 minutes of PT in a 40 pt blowout in mid-February. So he's a good BB player....good for him. Now get ready to catch passes and help your football team win games.

Anybody know if he has/had grade problems? A 6-6 WR with 4.5 speed with offers from Miami, Nebraska and Clemson and he's only a 5.5? What's the story on that?

This...enough with the silly basketball crap.

That's great that we have very athletic guys recruited to our football team. I bet some of them are great at track, tennis, swimming, archery, soccer and what ever else.
They will not do two major sports at UK. Some do track, this I do know.
These kids are concentrating on a sport they feel they have best business sense for them. And they should concentrate this way. It's hard enough these days to play one sport and go to school full time. At one time, back during black and white movies, kids could play multiple varsity sports with more ease because the "professional" athlete was not nearly what it is today and therefore it takes a lot more work to concentrate learning one sport. Track and swimming are good off season sports to keep in shape with, basketball (especially at KY) takes full time dedication.
