I think that game gave us a false confidence. Both teams were ranked much higher than they should have been. It looked like a great win for our young team but it turns out Duke, and Kentucky, aren't who we thought they were.

Wasn't impressed with Duke as that game went on. Neither team was a Top 5 team at the time and people should of recognized that. Doesn't mean UK can't get there though.

I don't think I would even say "both teams were ranked higher than they should've been". Both were ranked appropriately for at the time. Where a team is/should-be ranked is fluid. There is more than a reasonable chance both teams will finish the season (Mar) in the top 10, which is what pre-season rankings are usually trying to estimate (not where the teams will be at in Nov/Dec). Duke just needs some time to figure out their PG problem, and we need some time to figure out our Post problem. At this point, I'm looking at Skal as thus far, the biggest disappointment at UK since Marvin Stone. Now Skal can certainly turn it around, his problems (except strength) are quickly fixable (quickly meaning during the season, not by next week); but he could go the other way too and make Stone look like a huge success.

We say this crap every year and then play in the final four ... It's Dec, what's the big "F" in deal..
Agree. You wonder if some folks and much of the media have memories that last even a few months. I do have a memory and can almost guarantee the hottest team right now, Michigan State, will not be around to pick up a national championship trophy. And the talented teams that are sputtering early, UNC, Duke and UK to name three, barring significant injury, will be in the hunt.

With how we looked vs. Duke, I'd take that every day.

I think we've tinkered with that effort in other games, so we know its within the guys to play like that.

It would be different if all we saw was our Ohio St or UCLA game.

Remember when Joe B coached, we always had a Jan meltdown? We couldn't wait until February to get back to playing UK ball.

So let's re-judge in February, and Cal will know by then who he can count on. That just happens to be right after the Kansas game.

Didn't Duke lose by double digits in consecutive games last year to mediocre teams in January, with one of the losses being at home? How'd the season end up for them? How about us in 2014? in 2011? Its a long season.

Both Duke and UK can be elite by March IMO.

I understand those that don't, it seems day to day I'm unsure.

We might not be as good as we thought because some were saying 40-0 again but we are still one of the top 5 teams in the country when you look at talent. We need to mature some because we are so young but we are at worse the 2nd to 3rd best team when looking at talent. We will be destroying teams in March!!!!
