I certainly count myself as one... However, reading this and other boards and witnessing some of the fans at the UF game, sometimes makes me embarrassed to fall into this group. The lack of understanding, knee jerk reactions, and in some cases general stupidity are a lot to take in. There are maybe a half dozen posters on here that I think truly understand football (I don't include myself in that group). The rest are flailing around without a clue. I am supremely confident that the coaches know exactly what they are doing. And when we beat Mizzou and head into the Auburn game at 4-1, I am certain that most of the people that have it all figured out, will still not have figured out how to shut up! It'll be something else.

And the atmosphere at the stadium was great. But, please, if you spend all that money and especially time to get to the game, ACT LIKE A FAN!!! I am going to go "Bud Dupree" on the next guy that asks me to sit down or settle down!!! There are 72" HDTV's, a comfy couch, and air conditioning for you. Stay home!!! Otherwise, if you want winning football, be a winning football fan. Not someone passing time until Midnight Madness!!!

Amen...although our sec 206 is great

The fans frustration is understandable. It is getting harder and harder to swallow the decades long futility of the Florida and Tennessee streaks, given the fact we are nationally recognized athletic department with millions at our disposal, not to mention a large land grant university. Missouri and Vanderbilt have both beaten UT and UF twice in recent years.

In about ten minutes of Google, I could only find one comparable non rivalry in the power five conferences between state universities, that being Michigan over Indiana, 34-1 in that series since 1968. (IIRC, Ohio State has about the same record v. the Hoosiers, but I did not check) It really is embarrassing.

Cool story bro.

I totally understand the frustration. It's warranted. For me, that just makes me want to cheer harder, louder and find more ways to make an impact. At no point does it make me want to tell the guy behind me to quit being such a fan.... Nor does it improve my coaching ability to the point that I am qualified to make QB decisions. That's not directed at you Tskware, just a general statement.

As a University of Kentucky Fan, what would worry me more is if people acted like they didn't care one way or the other. For me, right or wrong, I'm good with all opinions expressed by any and all Fans of UK. At least there is a heartbeat, where there was none for a number of years. Keep it coming!

I appreciate you're a fan. I love the positive attitude....there is nothing more powerful. I say stand all you want at the game and those behind you should stand too.

That being said, I struggle with the statement: "I am supremely confident that the coaches know exactly what they are doing." I am not yet sold based on what we see on the field. I am hopeful they know what they're doing, but sometimes that shifts to "doubtful" (ST last year, clock management, half time adjustments, second half performance, etc.). I am supremely confident we have the talent to compete with Missouri. I am cautiously hopeful we have the development & preparation of that talent, game plan, practice reps, and forethought/drilling on adjustments necessary to perform at a high level for 4 quarters and win this game at night at home. To borrow from our neighbors to the west....this is a "show me" situation for the Staff. GBB!

Some posters do have a tendency to go 'overboard' at times after a loss with knee jerk reactions. But that is true of every team that losses each week. There's not a passionate fan base that doesn't have a melt down after a loss. Doesn't make it right or wrong, but at least the fan base does care more now than ever. I mean we lost by 5 points and didn't play good offensively at all. Imagine if we would of? We're making progress and it's awesome to see.

I predicted us to be 2-1 after this weekend. It's not that we got beat that had me upset, it was 'how' we got beat. Having the def play so good and the off play so terrible, knowing that if the off would of played better we could have won is why it was so disheartening. If we would of got beat 35-31 I personally could of handled it better b/c that means we scored points and coming into the season I thought the off would be ahead of the def; but it's been a role reversal.

Go and find the caller "Tammy" from the Paul Finebaum show on Monday after the Auburn loss, now there is a delusional fan that would embarrass me to be an Auburn fan.

And from my perspective, this is the best UKFB has looked in my lifetime, including the Brooks years. This is especially true concerning personnel. Combined with the facts that- 1) we aren't going to do any better trying to replace this head coach as we still have very little to sell/offer (aside from new facilities and an unrealistic fan base with a quick trigger finger) and 2) the coach we have is a first-time head coach that is learning all the aspects that this job entails as he goes- gives me pause and patience. We've always been subpar. I'm of the opinion that a little more understanding, forgiveness and patience will bear out more positive results than throwing the baby out with the bathwater before it has a chance to soak.

I remember feeling just like you do after Joker's first season. The difference is that Stoops actually shows some form of results after 3 years, even if they aren't to the level that UK fans want/expect. If nothing else from the viewpoint of collected talent. I say let it ride a bit longer before we punt and reset back to zero again. What's the difference? We can lose with Stoops and his players while he finds his center or we can lose with the next guy that won't be able to live up to expectations in 3 years, either.

Agree with most of it, definitely agree about the personnel, Brooks wrung every ounce out of the talent he had, and I like this team because we have a ton of room to grow into our raw talent------and more much better talent coming in.

But I don't get the constant angst about Joker, his senior leadership class from 07 had NINETEEN two stars in it, that averaged a robust 5.15 on the talent scale per Rivals, including the ONE 5.4 two star. He upset a top ten team in USC that had a FIVE star plus THIRTY EIGHT four star commits the previous four classes while he had TWO four stars playing, both JCs only here two years. He also came within three points of NC Auburn with Cam Newton, and upset TU the next year without ANY QB. Great game by our WR though.

Things did definitely fall apart on him though and he did make some really bad decisions, suspending our QB for the bowl game among the worst, although I doubt very much that it was his idea, if so he was stupid. Lily white scaredy cat UK, with other teams laughing at the incompetent NCAA.

Not a knock on Stoops and crew, they just need more time and the fans letting them continue to grow, but I don't think any one could have won at UK consistently before the fan strike forced major changes.

I still believe UK has a good season and is bowl eligible, and please, let the coaches decide who starts.

I agree. The streak has nothing to do with Mark Stoops or the players...fans decades of misery is none of their concern.

You make good points, he did yield some on-field results. I guess when I think back on Joker's tenure, the two things that stand out are his cleaning house of proven position coaches in favor of perceived recruiters and the resulting regression in player development; particularly the o-line in that game against UL in 2012 and the WR corps deteriorating to HS levels under a HC that was a former OC and played WR in college. Lending to my earlier point that the improved personnel and player development demonstrated by Stoops and co., to this point, make me feel so much better (secure?) about the direction of the program now as compared to then. I'll take the coaching snafus in hopes of improvement based on steady, positive, and albeit slow progression results in other aspects of the program.

Should a recruiter ever lie? Matt said the Tee told him that he told recruits that if they had seen Auburn's facilities then UK's were about the same, and he avoided showing them some of them------think the "recruiting room", one of the biggest disgraces at a STATE UNIVERSITY and truly inexplicable for a team trying to compete in the SEC.

But then was the administration really trying, or just worried about the money.

Which cost them untold millions over the amount even adequate support would have cost them.

I am 100% with you. Well said. People might have to accept that even our coaching staff is, to a certain degree, a work in progress. I am still willing to accept that all is steadily coming to a boil for us, even if watching the pot is still painful at times. It certainly was watching our offense last week. Had you told me we would hold UF to 14 points and lose prior to Week 1, I would have laughed at you. It is clear that we still have many warts, but I can see them falling away soon.
