Purdue. They are a scary team inside.

Generally teams you wanna avoid in the tourney...

-Streaky shooter teams (The 30 foot contested 3 effect from multiple players)
-Superstars who can go berserk (No one like that this year not on our team. Yes, I include the volume shooting Buddy Hield, he just has no chance to go D.Wade on us.)
-Gimmicky teams like WVU
-Tank teams down low (this year b/c we are so weak)

Also, as a OT side note the recipe to an undefeated season (inspired by someone who mentioned what we could have next season):

-Depth (must be able to survive foul trouble at frontcourt/backcourt)
-Consistent shooting (>35% from 3 as a team with at least 2 shooters on the court at all times)
-Good offensive post players (Shooting will be broke at least one game, need the post to power through it)
-Great team defense (Defense is never "off")

Easier said than done though.

Sure not looking like we will be healthy headed into the home stretch....always hate to season winding down. About Tournament time when one hot team or one cold shooting night ends it till November.

UNC is really the only team, in my opinion, that creates matchup hell for UK . Meeks, Johnson, Hicks, Jackson. Even with Humphries, Willis, Lee, and Poythress playing at a high level, that would be a very difficult frontline to get through.

That said, I fully expect to see them in the same region as UK. :D

Purdue's guards are terrible. On the contrary, they would be scared of a team with shooters and a great back court. Look at what IU just did to them.

I'm with you (but would add Michigan State).

I hate when we play UNC, because (living in ACC Hell) I cannot win. If UNC beats us, I have to listen to their crap. If we win, most Tarhell fans morph into a Dook fan or "doesn't really care about basketball".

I'd rather avoid Purdue, too, although our guards would hurt them.

I'll take any team that wants to press Tyler Ulis and Isaiah Briscoe (West Virginia). Dumbest way you can play us.

How is Hield a "volume shooter"? Kid's shooting 50% from the field and 49% from 3.

Coaches Cal has lost to in the tournament since at KY

Bob Huggins-Future Hall of Fame
Jim Calhoun-In The Hall of Fame
Kevin Ollie-National Championship Game
Bo Ryan-Future Hall of Fame

Not at all worried about Matt Painter

if our 3 guards are playing well and scoring i like our chances vs any team, even with our frontline injuries. i think we've proven that we can overcome our rebounding deficiency.

Dealing with a big team does present a challenge for us. However with a healthy roster that same big team has to contend with our mobility. Look at what Poy did to Bama first time we played em they just couldn't stay with him on the pick and Roll. Our guards move the ball so well and one of the biggest reasons for Willis's success is its hard for an opposing 4 to get out on him and defend the three. So healthy with three outside shooters to spread the floor i like our chances vs Purdue.

A lot of good points. I do agree that our guards will work Purdue but they will have to be incredible shooting. I could see another 20 offensive rbs going to the other team plus around a 35 RB differential. That is 35 more shots from a team that will be posting at will.

With unc, I just don't get a scary feeling from them. Yes they "are big" but it doesn't feel like they " play big". And Paige is rsrely on enough to beat us at the guard position. I think ulis would bust out the clamps. Like against us last season he had a good game and hit like 4 contested 3s I don't think that happens often enough for us to worry about him.

With MSU u do have the superstar effect, but valentine shot his team out of the FF last season so I have a lower opinion of him that most. I just fear him because our big defense is weak and not to mention he loves to get the flop calls. I think we would power through this one through Murray.

Well when we were healthy we were one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the country so I doubt a healthy UK team is out rebounded like that. Depends on how the game is called and where. Cal complained about the rebounding descrepency but not to bad on the most part he said we fought. SEC teams on the road are being aloud to shove us out of position and go over the back

The team I never want to see is ul. makes me want to throw up when I see them and I hate losing my appetite.

I haven't watched a lot of other teams this year...so i can't name a specific squad that really concerns me...

but I have watched our team and have already seen the types of teams I don't want to see again...

-Teams that rebound well...our 5'9 pg is one of our best rebounders...

-Teams that have some size and talent in the front court...we lack both and what we do have is inconsistent and/or injury prone...

-Teams that play an aggressive/physical style...we don't have brawlers, nor do we have the depth to survive anybody fouling out should they decide to start playing rough...

When we're healthy, I say to anyone "Bring it!" I think Mich State with Valentine and OU with Hield are pretty legit. Those would be exciting games.

You know we will see at least 2 of UNC,KU or IU in our region.Duke will far away from us this year If they get in Texas Tech will be a likely 1st round match up for us.We need to get some players back by the SECT so they can shake off the rust before the NCAAT

Bring 'em all on.....if we are healthy, I believe we can compete with anyone. We have the toughest backcourt in the country. There are no team that look great to me. I say that objectively.

I don't think I've ever seen a 35 rebound differential between two teams, even against cupcakes. Last Saturday wound up only 37-33 in favor of aTm.

We can win or lose against anyone. Teams that live by the 3 can die by the 3 and our strength is the guard play. My concern is that we still are not good in a slow down tempo. If you watched the A and M game, the last part of the game we had to take an end of the clock rushed shot, or poor shot over and over. Part of the problem is we don't have a go to inside offensive threat like KAT last year. Skal was supposed to be that guy but well we know now that he is not the option. Poy can be decent but not against a big front talented front line. Hump and Lee really don't have go to moves, so that is where the challenge will ultimately occur. If Willis is healthy and on target then that is what can open up the middle, but otherwise, it will prove dicey against a slow down tempo tight game.
