The "steady decline" Per 247:
TBD Class of 2022 - So far, 2 of the top ten recruits (or 20% of the top 10)
#2 Class of 2021 - 3 of the top 16 (Shaedon, TyTy, and Collins) + 4 transfers including NPOY and two additional starters (Wheeler, Grady)
#2 Class of 2020 (Composite #1) - 2 of the top 8 players (Clarke, Boston) + Isaiah Jackson + 3 transfers including 2 starters (Mintz, Sarr, Toppin)
#2 Class of 2019 - 2 Top 11 recruits (Maxey, Whitney) + Brooks, Juzang + transfer starter Sestina
#2 Class of 2018 - 3 of the Top 15 (Montgomery, Hagans, Keldon) + Quickley and Herro
#2 Class of 2017 - 4 of the Top 15 (Diallo, Knox, Vanderbilt, PJ) + Richards and Shai
#2 Class of 2016 - 4 of the Top 15 (Fox, Adebayo, Gabriel, Monk)
#1 Class of 2015 - 3 of Top 15 (Skal, Briscoe, Murray) + Mulder, Charles Matthews
#1 Class of 2014 - 3 of the Top 20 (KAT, Lyles, Ulis) + Booker

If we've slipped, every program in the country except perhaps Duke would trade places with us. And we've had far fewer busts at the top (Boston, Whitney, Montgomery, Skal) than booms (TyTy, Maxey, KJ, PJ, Fox, Adebayo, Monk, Murray, KAT, Trey, Ulis). And, we've produced several NBA max and top players from outside the top 15 (Juzang, Quickley, Herro, Gilgeous-Alexander, Mulder, Booker). And injuries to key starters are worth noting (Grady, TyTy, Wheeler, Clarke, Vanderbilt)

Recruiting may not be the hill to die on.
