Jerry Meyer and Matt Jones have both floated the idea that Cal strikes out on all remaining targets. That to me sounds like an impossibility but let's examine the possible reasons this may happen. First let's all assume there is alot of negative recruiting against UK. I think this is a safe assumption but it's also safe that it is a yearly occurrence. Given that it doesn't make sense that it would affect recruiting that much. There must be something else that these guys are being told that is turning them off to UK? What could those reasons be ? The first thing that comes to mind is that Cal is leaving but can't take the job because the team is going to be in the play-offs and must wait out the process of them ending their season firing their coach etc. This could be a viable reason if not for the fact that no one in the national media has picked this up or commented about it. Unless some of the national media pops on something this week I think it's safe to assume that's not it. The only other thing that I can think of is playing time and of those players left will they be of the mindset that they won't win a spot on the floor? I think not ! Then of course there is the Platoon system and are the possible recruits afraid Cal will go back to that? Cal has come out and said he would not platoon this year. The last thing is that Cal signs 2 more big time players and of course proves that Jerry Meyers and Matt Jones are not as smart as they think they are? Those statements made by them IMO doesn't pass the smell test???
