The Skal you see today will not be.....

Well that's what we hope. It's on him to get there. Cal is going to push him but Skal is a different dude. He doesn't have any dog in him yet.
All of us here want to see the real Skal, we are a different team if he shows up.

He will get there. Cal and Payne are excellent at developing big men.

I think it's a matter of how much improvement we will see, but he will be much better by March. All depends on how hard he works and how well he takes the coaching.

He could be but it's going to take a lot of hard work and I suspect it will take him longer than most. You can really tell that he hasn't played much basketball in his life and has basically been away from the game for a year. He's very slow reacting to the game. Things like reading the ball off the rim, rotating on defense and playing the pick & roll are very hard for him right now. Once he gets comfortable after he's been taught the right way he will start to react instead of thinking. He is doing a lot of thinking out there right now and it's hurting his game pretty bad.

Yeah, it's not an issue of "toughness." Kid survived an earthquake and chose to play here. I think he's plenty tough.

It's more that he is a step slow in nearly every aspect of the game. I agree by March it will be a different kind of skal

The problem with him if he plays more aggressively he'll get more fouls. He just needs to learn how to get position early and that could take some time.

He has a big learning curve. But Cal and Payne will get him there.

I think you pretty much called it,,he has skills and hand/eye co-ordination but may lack basketball instincts

He might get there but, remember how laid back Prince was. Who knows but, you can see there is a lot of talent and skill there.

Jmo but it is not toughness or desire,he is is like Ingram on our team. He simply is not strong enough now.I don't know if either of them can overcome that this year.Another years growth and both will be monsters

My concern is a tendency to disappear. That needs to be overcome. Some guys are great 90% of their games and then disappear. If you can't score at least rebound or defend.

This is why you cant just assume things without watching kids play. You guys all thought Skal is sure fire top 5 pick because of what some so called experts think...you have to watch these giys play first

I would agree with you if I actually saw Skal trying to post up or trying to get a rebound. Right now he seems to shy away from contact and he takes jump shots instead of goung at the rim and drawing contact.

Oh? And you just knew what the experts were saying wasn't true? I noticed you excluded yourself from those that were fooled.
In addition, I bet once Skal comes around and starts dominating you will come on here and tell everyone how you just knew that was going to happen and the rest if us gave up on him.

Hopefully that will be the case,in 3 of the 8 games so far we have seen minimal production from Skal. You would think things would get better for him but we need to see him string 2 or 3 games of good production together before it is anything more than saying what we hope happens.

I can't agree with you. I think Skal Does have some dog in him. Puppy Dog (at this time.) Feed the boy some alpo (Not Ole Roy...), let Cal teach him a few tricks, and Whoala....a full grown Dog. I bet he has a mean bite too. Time will tell. Let the trainer have him and look for the finished product at the kennel club showing later this season...[eyeroll]:cool:
