Aside from being banned 2 years (self-imposed backed up by the NCAA), the real punishment is:

1) A public reprimand and censure for the university - shame on you, next.
2) 4 years of probation - means nothing
3) Pitino is suspended, (2 good games, 3 clunkers) - expect it to be appealed
4) 10 year show-cause for McGee - no one will touch him so this means nothing
5) Not sure who this is, but no one is hiring him this year so it means nothing
6) Vacate wins, they still happened, so other than record books, does it really matter.
7) A reduction of scholarships 4 more. They pull they scholarship offered tot he walk-on, they never pay anyway, and 2 of the lost scholarships are done with this year.

The only area affected is the scholarships.

everything else has already been addressed or served.

Interesting spin from a UK fan. So losing the banner is no big deal? Wonder why UL is so mad...
I have no clue. I do not see anywhere where the banner is coming down. At least not mentioned specifically in the punishment. If so, so what. Does it automatically go to Michigan. No. It really does not affect anything.

If the NCAA came out today and said the 1978 banner was being removed, would it really matter. No, we won it, you can have it.

Does Rick get an asterisk by his name in the Hall of Fame. What has to happen at UL for he and Jurich to get fired?

I find your take peculiar, on a day when the Louisville establishment certainly seems upset about the further tarnishment of their legacy, and the (apparent) imminent removal of their ill-gotten championship from the record.

You're right that the games were already played and can't be wiped from memory. And if you and the UL fans want to cling to that, it's certainly your right.

It will not state specifically but, it did state specifically to vacate games that the ineligible players played in so, if it is determined that ineligible players played in the NC game then it is vacated. Does not exist, meaning the banner does not exist either.= GONE.

Nah, you don't walk away from the shame of this. Pitino's name is already tarnished, this just makes his reputation far worse, and 100% cements UL as the slimiest, grimiest, most morally corrupt university in the country.

UNCheat says hello.

Having to give back the money is going to be the hardest. They are sooooooo close to broke it's not funny. Papa John said they only had 10 days of cash on hand.

I do not think taking down a banner addresses the situation. Is it an embarrassment, sure. But is it a real penalty.

If you want to set a tone, you make the punishment severe enough that it cripples the program.

As it sits, Louisville has egg all over their face. But really very little punishment. At least in my mind, not enough to prohibit another team from breaking the rules.

I can see a team with nothing to lose saying what the heck, if they catch us, it is a few scholarships and a title if we are lucky enough to win it. If their is not title in the picture, it might be worth it to others.

The punishment needs to be current and future thinking. Ban the program from the NCAA for a few years and I guarantee others will 1) not do it again or 2) get good enough at hiding it it will not be found.

First of all, you arent fooling anyone and really never have.

Second, taking down the banner is a huge deal. It stains their lrogram forever, and right now there isnt a good named coach in America who would
sneeze toward louisville.

Louisville needed to cheat to keep up with Kentucky. Rick just provided proof that kentucky is too tall of a mountain to overtake.

All of this "memories" crap is just that, crap.

And as far as facts go, your memory of that game is a lie. Your dirty birds were never there.

So you don't care that your team now has as many titles as San Francisco and fewer wins than Oregon State?

I guess if you've lived in delusion for generations, you can keep lying to yourself, but the rest of the sports world, for what little time they consider you in the first place, doesn't buy your defense mechanism.
