The offensive line is a unit that may be helped more by the RS freshmen than any other unit. The first and second units in the scrimmage Saturday were:

First Team
Kyle Meadows, Ramsey Meyers, Jon Toth, Jordan Swindle and Nick Haynes

Second Team
Jarrett LaRubbio, Bunchy Stallings, Nick Richardson, Asafo-Adjei, and Myers at center

Jen Smith on the OL rotation

No mention of Krok at all in that article. Was hoping he'd get in the rotation this fall.

As Jen Smith explained, Schlarman is doing a lot of experimentation this spring. So the current 1 and 2 units won't necessarily reflect what we will see in the fall although obviously Toth, Meyers, and Swindle will play. A couple of names are missing here, West, Krok, Mosier. This is the deepest offensive line we have had in a long time, so younger players will compete with each other and push older players. Depending on how things play out, we could even see Jacob Hyde as an offensive guard. LaRubbio, Haynes, Stallings, and GAA may be the most interesting stories here.

Is Zach West injured? Here is my take on what it will look like this fall.

LT- Jordan Swindle/Josh Krok/Nick Richardson/Levon Livingston
LG- Zach West/Nick Haynes/Bunchy Stallings/Mason Wolfe
C- Jon Toth/Bunchy Stallings/Zach Myers
RG- Ramsey Meyers/Jarrett LaRubbio/Logan Stenberg
RT- Kyle Meadows/George Asafo-Adjei/Cole Mosier

Schlarman just said in the article that it is unlikely for Stallings to overtake Myers as the #2 C and his fastest path to the field is LG.

Richardson will be a G as will GA-A. Haynes will likely back Meadows at RT. The hint here is clear...UK REALLY needs a LT and that should be a priority in the '16 class.

West has been plagued by injuries his whole career. My question for any who may know....is Krok hurt again?

Landon Young.
Maybe long term. Short term could be JUCO Malcolm Pridegeon however. That would allow UK to give Young a much needed RS year. UK's offered Pridegeon but he has really blown up of late, getting offers hand over fist.

I agree. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see them go after a juco LT, but the problem is everyone is looking for them and they are as scarce as hen's teeth...

Richardson is an OT all the way.

West and Krok did not get a mention. I find this strange. Anyone know what the deal is here. I know that West is recuperating from an injury and is not practicing this spring. Is Krok also still out rehabbing an injury? Krok was getting some raves about his play last year and it was even suggested that he might be in the two deep before he was injured. IMO if he heals he will be in the two deep. Miller was a decent LT but he was small for the position and he is all UK lost off the OL. The returning players have a year more experience and there is some good Redshirts to throw into the mix. Heck even true Freshman George A-A is being talked up as maybe making the two deep. I expect the OL to be much improved this season. There is no doubt that there will be more quality depth on the OL than there has been for many years.

Another freshman that everyone should be really excited about is Logan Stenberg. I think he may be one of the most talented/versatile OL (after GAA) that we've signed in quite some time. He dominated the Alabama/Mississippi all-star game against some of the best defensive linemen in the country. He played guard and tackle and was impressive at both spots. The whole SEC inquired about him after he committed to us but he was very loyal to Stoops and didn't reciprocate the interest

Landon Young.
He is at least 2 years before being able to play OT in SEC. It always worries me how kids that need to gain 50 or so lbs react to the extra weight. We have signed several kids, some pretty highly rated who needed to do that and for whatever reason non have panned out. But one thing he has going for him those other guys didn't, is he is a wrestler, nothing against BB players, but wrestlers are a different breed, they are just tougher and meaner than kids who played BB in hs. When I was still coaching, if my kids weren't pretty good basketball players and going to contribute to the BB team, I highly"reccomended" they wrestle. Didn't matter if they ever started in a match, just made them tougher.

agreed. we are past the point of expecting every good recruit to come in and play right away (especially at lt, qb, wr, and dl). used to be if we got a physically developed kid, he was on the 2 deep upon starting classes. now these guys are gonna have to wait unless they are gaa physically ready.

Landon Young has a bright future at UK. However, he's a long and leaner type lineman that will arrive at UK in the 275lb pound range. He's a legit 6'6-6'7. The young man will need a minimum of 2 yrs of strength and weight training before he's ready to play in the sec. UK desperately needed to sign a juco left tackle last yr but weren't able to get it done. They have no choice but to ink 1 or possibly 2 in this class with Swindle set to graduate. That will leave only Kyle meadows and Josh krok as the only "true" tackles on the roster with experience. Left tackle depth is dire.

I imagine Austin Kendall knows this.

Jordan Swindle, Kyle Meadows, Jarrett LaRubbio, and Nick Richardson are getting tackle reps this month. Josh Krok has been hurt. Richardson is a natural guard, seeing tackle reps out of necessity. Logan Stenberg and Landon Young are already in the pipeline, but both will need developmental time as you stated. I don't think Swindle has left tackle skills, but the coaches' hand is forced unless Krok can step up and beat him out. That can't happen with Krok sidelined. For the future, Krok, LaRubbio, and Young are left tackle candidates. All 3 are interesting, but none is a guaranteed solution. Especially concerning when you look at 2016. Signing a juco sounds better in theory than the actual likelihood of working. In reality, very few juco offensive tackles do well at the Big 5 conference level. My guess is that Krok and LaRubbio will hold down left tackle until Young is ready around 2018. The good news is that we are in better shape on the right side, where Meadows is already pretty good, and Stenberg will be a hoss. But we are still very thin at tackle, and injuries could hurt. This must be addressed in the current recruiting class.
