The Night Before Kickoff

'Twas the night before kickoff
And amidst the big blue sea,
Not a player was snoozing,
Not even Dane Key.

The scoreboards were placed at the endzones with care
In the hope that Hamdan and Co. would fill 'em by air.

Then, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
A giant bus with schollies and gear.
A little old driver commanded a team wide whoop,
I knew in an instant it must be our Stoops.

More rapid than Cardinals his players all came
As he shouted all varsity players by name.
And so up the stadium steps they soon flew
With pads and gear and Marrow watching, too.
Down a few steps and again up a few more,
Then players watched film at Joe Craft just next door.
They spoke not a word but went straight to work,
Then filled with Xs and Os, boarded the bus with an indescribable perk.

Laying a finger aside of his nose
Then giving a nod toward the bus
as he rose,
I heard Stoops exclaim as he bussed the cats out of sight,
