Anyone remember this movie in which Pitino had a small role? The story line of the movie I find interesting. Nick Nolte plays a good coach at a big time university who's glory days are behind him and he has clearly slipped a notch. After losing a game to a heated rival it's clear he must up his efforts in recruiting and he goes to a booster and tells the booster " I don't want to know how you do it just do it". Of course he signs better talent and wins a title then has a meltdown at the podium. I find similarities in this with Pitino. Cal arrives in Lexington and in a few short weeks lands a #1 class and Rick up the road at the Ville is clearly starting to slip. Anyone remember the articles where Rick said his staff must recruit better and he was going to hire people for the sole purpose of recruiting? Now it's my belief that anyone in a position of great authority if the intentions are to do something even slightly shady must have buffers and be able to have " plausible deniability" ? Given Ricks ego and his massive pride,I think Cal landing the UK job was too much for him to bear and he clearly wasn't going to play second fiddle to Cal in the state. All this boils down to "Did Rick Pitino know what was going on at Minardi Hall"? The answer I believe is somewhere in the middle. I believe he instructed one of his boys "someone he's known since he was a kid and has brought along" to up the recruiting efforts and to get the job done. He may not have known the exact methods but his instructions where very clear. To say Rick had no knowledge of any of this is to me ridiculous. Coming from a coach who can tell you all 15 players body mass percentage and whether or not they are practicing on their own? Just not believable?

I was looking for Tom Selleck. I do remember the movie,Nolte reminded me of knight.

those kids played out their heart. They gave everything they had! They played up to the *maximum* of their ability! They gave it everything. And you know, it wasn't good enough. It wasn't good enough for me, wasn't good enough for you, wasn't good enough for anybody!
