The frontcourt is the reason why Kentucky struggles.

It puts a lot of pressure on the guards when the frontcourt of Lee, Skal , Poy and Willis don't consistently produce.

There are a lot of factors, Cats don't have a true post player, don't have a great rim protector, guard letting opposing guards into the lane way too much. At times we looked lost on offense. Can't just put this on the front court.

Disagree. The problems are that we have nobody on the bench who can score and that refs are calling things fouls this year that were blocks in the past. Cal's defensive strategy is to funnel drivers to shot blockers. Now, obviously murray is doing a little more than funneling, but the concept is still there.

Go back and watch the game last night. Poythress was hammered several times with no call. We look at them wrong and It's a foul. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but anyone with eyes can see that things aren't being called consistently anymore. Not from game to game. Not from half to half. And not from team to team. Officiating is absolutely atrocious.

Against KU we scored 1.04 points per possession. That's the 5th best all season long against them
Against UT we scored 1.15 points per possession. That's the 4th highest mark against their D all season.

KU scored 1.11 points per possession against our D.
UT score 1.25............their best offensive output the entire season.

Our offense is fine. Our defense stinks.
25th in offensive efficiency and 51st in defense

Our defense was 29th prior to the KU game. All those free throws were a huge contributor to the efficiency of both KU and UT.

We are 325th in the country in opponent's percentage of points scored on free throws. During conference play we are allowing 28% of our opponent's points to come from the line. That's 2nd worst in the nation.

At some point you just say "well... This team can't play the kind of defense that I want without fouling", play m2m never having a foot outside of the 3 point arc and stop pressuring out to half court in your set defense and stop trying to block 90% of the opponent's shots. But nooooooo.... Cal's stubborn ass is just going to foul our way out of the tourney.

I know people are making fun of the OP for stating the obvious. But, come on, the Tenn. game had a number of favorable calls for Kentucky as well as two bad ones against us. This game was not on the refs. Kansas, well maybe.

In any event, I got blasted by many for asking was Skal the biggest recruiting miss. I don't see those blasts coming as frequently. He couldn't even do much on the court against 6'5' players and Poythress is not a center. Lee played behind others and we can see why. What I don't get is Skal over Humphries at this point. At least Humphries can rebound and set strong picks. Yes, to get to the promised land will take a talented producing Skal, but at this point we better worry more about winning the SEC games. This is not a low seeded team that will win several games against higher ranked oppoinents like two years ago. We need to get a 3 seed and hope for some upsets in the region we will be placed.
