For those of you on here that remembers the 1974-75 season. Of course in those days UK & UL didn't play. We remember how we almost played UL in the championship game that year. But it didn't happen.... Anyhow a few months after the season ended. The UK seniors & the UL seniors got together & played one another. I remember that the UK seniors won the game by a score of something like 87 to 71.

My question is, does anyone else remember this game. And do you remember anything from this game? Like the leading scorers, rebounders, ect........

They used to play a game after every season between former UK players vs former UofL players. It was played at Freedom Hall and used to get pretty good crowds. It may have continued up until the series started after the 1983 season.

The game had an actual name, but I can't remember it.

TopCat.. Love your avatar. I had that SI issue and must have read that article 50 times.
I never heard of the exhibition series you mentioned. Reading about things like that is one of the things I love about this board

The part I remember like yesterday was Wooden announcing his retirement before the final game. I knew we were toast.

I remember that game well...

UofL fans believe that them and UCLA were the 2 best teams with UK being way below both of them.

They say that the game between them and UCLA was essentially the title game.

I think the game the OP is talking about took place in Frankfort. I sort of remember going to Frankfort for a game involving graduated UK/UL players, believe JBH was even there. Don't remember the outcome or any other details about it.

I think he is talking about the game that was played after the season ended. I think it was played in Frankfort and I don't think all the players participated. I saw the box score the next day and I am thinking Guyette had a big game. Something like 18 rebounds. Maybe there is a way to dig up the box score.

I believe you guys are right. I was also thinking that the game was played in Frankfort. And if I remember correctly, UK player Jerry Hale was kinda like a player/coach for the UK seniors.

If anyone knows any of the UK seniors that played in this game. Jimmy Dan Connor, Kevin Grevey, Mike Flynn, Jerry Hale, Bob Guyette, Steve Lochmuller, & I'm sure the late G.J. Smith played as well. But if anyone knows any of these guys they could give us a lot of the details of the game.

Didn't realize GJ was not with us any more.
