The come back was fools gold.

Terrible take. Hopefully we learned how to play from this loss. Entire offense needs to be built around Murray. That and play your asses off on defense all the time.

He did shoot like that the 2nd half against ucla. We just didn't rebound well enough to complete the comeback.

This is our second loss where the opponent hit lights-out shots, got most of the lucky bounces, and probably will not duplicate this effort again this year.

Beat Loserville, and all is forgiven.

Murray had some miracle shots. Still no post play. He has not shot that way all year. We win the game if we could rebound and get anything from Poythress andnSkal. The game was lost in the last 5 min of the first half when they went cold and we still were down by 12.

143 Divided by 14,285 = 1%.

Murray is built for clutchness.
Cal needs to make him the focal point from here on out....
If Murray avg 20 ppg while hitting 50% we will be a FF team.

Yes, Murray had some miracle shots...but so did OSU. A poor 3pt shooting team and they're knocking them down. Buzzer beater 3 to end the 1st half. We steal the ball, they get it right back and hit a 3. Etc. Yes rebounding is a problem. I thought we were a 1/2 step slow on the boards and some bounces. But with all the loose ball tie ups, I thought we hussled pretty good. But, we're soft on the inside which is a big concern. That and shooting..but Murray took care of that in the second half.

If you go back and replay last 5 minutes of the game we get the lead down to 63-60 with the under 4 timeout and POY gets fouled and gets a 1 and 1 after the under 4 timeout. He comes out and misses the 1 and 1 and if he makes those 2 we have it down to 1 point 63-62 and the Giddens misses his 1 and 1 and we get a layup and SKAL misses the layup aroud the 3 minute mark. I we would hit those 2 FT's by POY and then get the rebound by miss FT by Giddens and SKAL scores the layup we take our first lead 64-63 and that could have very easy gave us that momentum to finish out the game with a huge 16 point comeback. That was a big missed opportunity stretch missing the 1 and 1 and missing the layup with nearly 3 minutes to go! WE also missed a few more layups after that and I felt we missed way too many layups tonight in this game!

Murray wasn't hitting "miracle shots." He is that good. The problem is Cal has been forcing him to drive the ball in the paint, instead of taking those perimeter shots, and the opponents are now packing it in, because they don't think were going to take those shots. When he does, not only can be lethal out there, he opens up the middle for everyone else. If you think his 34 points was some fluke, I don't know what to tell you, other than you didn't see Murray play prior to coming here.

Most of the game, all 5 Ohio State players were inside the 3 point arc, daring us to shoot. When we would drive, there were always 3 players around the driver, and usually 4 to rebound. Unless we start taking and hitting from the outside, it will continue to be that way.
A dribble drive will only work if you can hit from the outside. You can't drive when there are 3 players packed in, within 6 or 8 feet of the basket.
We lost to WV in the tournament because we couldn't hit from the outside. Conn. beat us in the tournament the same way. If we don't hit from the outside, it's going to be a long year.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

We will see nothing but that in SEC play... and Louisville will add punching/gouging/pushing to the mix.

Rest her soul, my mother always said:
If you can't say something nice, just don't say anything.
Oh, just one thing. I'm depresed.

The OP is correct, Murray's incredible performance made us look better than we actually were. We have serious spacing problems because we have too many non shooters on the floor at times. No opponent takes the outside shots of Lee, Poythress, and Briscoe seriously. When those guys are on the floor, the lane is clogged for Skal and inhibits our ability to drive to the hoop. We've got to get some more scoring threats on the floor...if we have them. Willis and Matthews seem to be candidates for increased PT.

I agree aikenite4uk ... but I'm sure some dipweed will say " Boy I hope Cal reads rupps rafters so he will get some pointers" or better yet " Faar Cal" No , just fans discussing the team on a public opinion board.

I didn't see any miracle shots by Murray. Everything we saw him do was exactly the kind of player he was expected to be. He just had a hot hand. There was nothing miraculous about it. We should have fed him even more in the final 3-4 minutes.

An absolute pathetic display today by Kentucky. No way in hell do we make the final four. This is nowhere near a team at all. All I seen was selfishness from the post players and especially calipari for not benching players that can't do their job. We need a major attitude adjustment or I expect at least 10 more losses or more on the horizon.
I hate to say it but Louisville might spank our ass next week unless somebody wakes the hell up.

We made a middle of the pack Big 10 team look like a Final Four team today. Our bigs have very little on court awareness. All they want to do is block shots on one end and make a highlight reel play on the other, instead of just taking the easy layup the defense gives them. Still, if we can get Murray to build on this game, Briscoe to make free throws and attack inside when it's there and dish out when it's not, and Ulis to settle down, we'll win in March. Right now it's painful to watch Skal, Poythress and Lee look bad against inferior competition.

That is exactly whay many said after ucla....the fact is, it will happen again...especially in the tourney!

The best thing is that Murray started being an All American. If by some miracle Skal gets it going, this team will be a legitimate contender. Murray is a legitimate game changer, just needs a little help

You said 1 thing that is true. This team is inconsistent because we don't get any consistent scoring from the low post, and we are not a physical team on the boards. But the comeback was an important answer to those who insist this team lacks focus and heart. Our guys played their butts off. But we lost to a bigger, more physical team. This won't be the last time we see that happen. BTW it was a bad 1st half, but this game was not lost in the 1st half like you say. Being down 12 points at halftime is manageable. We lost this game when we were down 3 points late in the 2nd half and made a couple of really bad plays on both ends that let Ohio State push their lead back out to 7 points. Up to that point, we had all of the momentum, but those plays broke our momentum. A couple of those bad decisions were made by Ulis. I love Ulis, but this game was a bad match-up for him. He will have trouble against bigger guards with equal athleticism, and yesterday was a good example.
