That poster had become way past annoying, glad something was done about them and that they're gone although I thought I saw a similar post with just a new name attached to it (this one had low post numbers too so I was suspicious). Can someone just re-register with a new name or is their home web address a giveaway when they are banned?
Check this out. This is a public UK message board. The only people who should get banned is people who are trolling. I mean actual trolling. Like somebody who's a fan of another team and talking trash and what not. I mean you cant just want everybody with a different opinion to get banned. I mean hell. I'm a redneck. I'm gonna make some wild posts here and there. Especially if I get mad. But I mean as long as your a UK fan then everybody's opinion should be welcome. We're all brothers here.
Here's what I mean by trolling. Say I make an account on a Louisville board. I'd start a thread saying so and so player just tore his ACL, and get a bunch of the jack holes going. Then I'd sit back with my buddies and laugh you know. LMAO. I haven't seen any good trolling like that on here. Maybe some idiot who thought he was trolling, but I haven't seen anything crazy, or any outrageous threads, or any threads getting everybody all tore up. Or anything that turns out to be completely made up. So yeah as long as your a UK fan then your opinion's welcome in my book.
I can't disagree with you totally but this poster we're talking about didn't just have a difference of opinion, he was on here to purposely stir up UK fans with his constant posts about Cal jumping to the NBA. He was definitely trying to get under the skin of UK fans, no doubt about it.
Thanks to the Mods for cleaning up the Troll you're talking about. Now it's time to do the same to

And that's just to name a few. Alot of them are very subtle, so they might stay around a little longer. I can sniff em out pretty easily, though. There's one in this thread who was already banned. He made a post about how we should get World Wide Wes, and some boosters to pay some of the recruits, so they wouldn't go play for that Vegas dude, who is gonna try to lure them straight out of HS. If that doesn't spell rival fan Troll, I don't know what does

Sorry, but now that it appears those threads have been removed, I can't recall their name exactly. But, it was a poster with low post numbers who had recently joined the board and just kept putting up some threads about "what if Cal takes this NBA job" or something very much along those lines. He was constantly being called out by other posters about all his threads being of a negative nature aimed at Cal and it was obvious he was trying to get to UK fans and nothing more. Sorry I can't be of more help on the specific name of the poster but, then again, it's probably not that important now that they are gone. Maybe someone else remembers the poster's name and can add it in this thread for you.
Why get stirred up over something like that. That kind of conservation has gone on forever. Cal is going to do what ever is good for Cal, like anyone else. You probably think it hurts recruiting, but that is just a myth. No one knows for sure why he loses a top recruit occasionally. Anyway he always has a top recruiting class.
Also if a poster has low post count, or a different opinion doesn't mean he's a troll, thats silly. That is what makes debating a fun thing.
I've seen lots of trash talking and name calling that was worse than this in my opinion. Just loosen up and enjoy.
This guy had started at least 4 threads...it was obvious to those who frequent the board. Then inside the thread it was just arguing back and forth, no real content. Then he started in on other threads. Did not get "under my skin", but was absolutely trolling and brought nothing to RR

First off, this is a private message board thus you have to be a member and agree to a set a terms to post here. Different opinions are great and make the world go round but you if you're only posting just to piss others off you're not going to last.
You acted like a dumba$$ early on. And just because you are a fan doesn't mean you can come and talk the stupidity you were doing. Stop getting so angry at things beyond your control and making yourself look silly. Glad to see you are back and posting in a much more mature fashion. I have even liked a few of your posts.
Yeah I agree with you about that. If somebody's just posting to upset others then they aren't really engaging in the conversation. They're basically trolling. Well heck they are trolling. But that's not the kind of thing I was talking about.
This board misses out on a ton of quality discussion from mature posters because many are hesitant to post here. Why do they feel this way? The mods allow personal attacks. It is good to have the troll patrol roll through now and then, but the flaming that is condoned here really stifles the traffic this board could have. I mod on a much larger forum with considerably more traffic. The formula for getting great traffic is simple.
Moderate the flamers or anyone who attacks another individual. On this board it would be comments like "go root for another team" or "you are a closet UL fan", or listing posters names we don't like, etc. We use simple temp bans or can ban someone from a particular thread. Threads are cleaned up when flame wars start. Warnings are given. Mods can keep the train on the track. Why do this? It keeps the discussion productive and it encourages all the thousands of posters who rarely or never post to participate. Many of these can be a source of quality posts. The quality discussion is what will draw even more to the site. The person who gets the warning or the ban I can guarantee are still viewing the site so you don't lose that traffic. One douche poster can keep dozens of quality posters from ever joining in the discussion. When these "rotten apples" are quarantined the forum will grow. There are few places on the internet that could accommodate great discussion about college ball like this forum. We love UK basketball and we love basketball. Personally I'd love for this to be the spot for great discussions. As it stands there are great discussions every now and then, but it is not a place that engenders an open back and forth. What is allowed on this board is not a good look for our fan base at all.

No, you are wrong. You would have to see the threads to understand what was going on. He was flaming by trolling just to get a fight started.
It was easy to see why it was taken down.
Not sue what you MOD, but other sites I have visited and just read are much worse than RR. They may not allow the "attacks" on home fans but let outsider post and they swarm. The vile used is horrible.
Unfortunately, it seems RR is so accustomed to trolls that one is guilty until proven innocent. I went through that when I joined many moons ago. I did not have an appropriate name (dukedmd) and could not say anything without ridicule. But this does it its own on a regular basis.
