I don't want to take away from Justin's big day. But I'd feel like a real jerk if I didn't stop by here and say a quick goodbye.
For those of you wondering, I'm off to New Orleans to work for The Advocate newspaper. I'll be covering the Pelicans and some kid with one eyebrow.
I want to thank all of you for checking this site daily, for engaging in discussion, for letting us know what we were doing wrong (and sometimes right!) and generally being the reason for everything we do.
There are too many people to thank: All the people at Rivals who gave me this opportunity -- who pursued me, in fact, when I was at the C-J -- and made these four years so good. Steve Jones, who helped bring me on board and make the transition easy. Derek Poore, Ben Jones, Corey Albertson, Aaron Smith. A bunch of names. Alex Holt, who took a whole bunch of great photos here and is one of my best friends on the planet.
But three people deserve special mention.
Leaving would be a lot harder if I didn't know that the site is in such great hands. Justin Rowland is going to do amazing work here. I've seen what he has planned, and I think he can take the site to a whole new level. I want to thank him for everything he did the past three years. He's better at covering football recruiting than almost anybody is at anything and he'll bring that same passion and dedication to running the entire site.
Alex Forkner works way harder than anybody in a part-time capacity should ever have to. He has such a bright future ahead of him. I can't say enough about the job he's done over the past year.
The first guy who joined the staff after I came on board was T.J. Walker, and I'm choking up just typing that. Watching T.J. mature as a writer and reporter over the past four years was one of my favorite parts of this job, and his friendship means so much to me.
Thank all of you. I'll miss this place a lot.
