I've been vocal in my disappointment this yr, mainly with the defensive philosophy. But no one can argue with what he did for this program. I was in the belief that he did hit his ceiling at UK, looks like he thought so too.
Good luck coach, I'll be rooting for you every weekend except the weekend we match-up. #bbn

Was chatting with a friend earlier about this possibility. I'm just ready for some new blood. Felt like we've had too many mental mistakes and undisciplined players for 11 years in.

Personally, I'm ready to take a chance to improve our standing rather than be happy with middle.of the pack. Sure we could backslide but I think Stoops peaked with what he could do here.

Fortune favors the bold and all that. I want to compete for the SEC not be stoked when we go 4-4. Just feels like Stoops' conservative nature is never going to get us over that hump. Appreciate the effort but I'm ready to move on.

I’m excited for a fresh start, but wish him well. I appreciate Stoops for leaving the program better than he found it.

Don’t disagree. You can be conservative here but you have to fully commit to it and run a more complex version of the Bowden offense. It doesn’t have to be traditional triple option but you can go run heavy conservative. The issue arises when you don’t fully commit and you mix in wasted downs by mediocre passing here and there and get behind the chains constantly.

But we either need to go spread speed option heavy or spread up tempo pass game. No In between. We are never going to beat Bama/UGA etc at their own game so you need to run a system and recruit to the system. The “pro-style” concept is great if you can recruit a 2-4 deep roster of future pros.

Dude got us two 10 won seasons at UK. Beat Tennessee and Florida. Dominated Louisville. Made us respectable and fought for upgraded facilities.

I hope the next guy can improve on that even more!

I don't disagree with this either but I meant more conservative in general approach.

Stoops isn't a guy to try to score with under 90 seconds before half. He isn't a guy to try and win the game up 3 with 2 minutes to go and a 3rd and 9 by throwing aggressively for it. He's gonna run and punt and hope his defense can hold. He's gonna play prevent bend don't break defense with the game on the line. He doesn't call aggressive blitzes with the game on the line.

I'm ready for more modern type stuff. Check the analytics on 4th and play to score type stuff. Saban realized a stout defense wasn't good enough years ago and now fields a more modern style. We need that too. You just don't have as much aof a chance to win that way anymore.

Just like the NBA isn't playing big guys that park in the paint and post up trying to play bully ball possession afrer possession.

I don't care if we play wishbone/spread option/pro style whatever but we need to play to win and we need to play to score points. Yeah we can't ignore the defense, not what I'm getting at but way too many times this season we stalled out 3-4 drives in a row quickly and put our D in tough positions repeatedly.

Be careful what you wish for. Watching what Billy Napier is going through now at FL, I have a feeling a whole lot of people on this board are in for a rude awakening.
