Another over-hyped season ends at 8-5. An improvement but nothing to write home about, especially in light of all the money, inherent recruiting advantages, mediocre conference, etc. that TX enjoys. The Pac12 isn't exactly known as a defense league but TX only managed 20 points (with a TD coming with <2 minutes to go). Sark is not horrible but I wonder how many 8-5 seasons the Longhorn fans will put up with before the next 'hot name' becomes available?

Arch Manning arrives next year but Ewers is pretty darn good, too, so I don't think it's a quantum leap in offensive production for '23. I'm sure they'll be top 20 preseason and, almost assuredly, underperform, as usual.

When TX joins the SEC, where will they be slotted? I would guess somewhere in the middle. If they're in the West, Bama and LSU will consistently have better teams, imo. So, they'll be fighting it out with Ole Miss, AU, A&M, AR and MSU for 3rd in the West? I would guess having TX in the SEC will open up recruiting avenues for teams who haven't consistently recruited there: TN, KY, USC, et al. In the long run, they may be looking at a lot of 3rd and 4th place West finishes which should continue the cycle of high expectations followed by souring on the staff followed by new coaching staff. Wash, rinse, repeat.

He will be around because of Arch. But it that experiment doesn't go well next year - bye bye Sark!

Go Big Blue!
