Auburn and Alabama picking up a 5 star player each over the past two days.

SG, #11 overall in the 2016 class.

Huge get. This kid is a player. Looks like Smart is having a hard time keeping the studs in Texas.

Ferguson was a hard KU lean, goes to 'Bama two weeks ago and then had plans to go to Lawrence the next day. Announced he was moving his visit for Late Night. Then boom, today's announcement.

This was a good get for Avery. The rest of the SEC is getting serious about basketball, well except for Mizzou.

Kansas fans are baffled as to why a kid with this kind of talent would choose Bama over them. They ask, how can this kid choose such a second rate basketball school over a blue blood? Well Kansas, that is the same exact question we have been asking every time a kid commits to your school over us.

22-6 and 8-3. Love those numbers. Should put things in perspective for the Chicken/Choke Hawks....

Don't blame him. Avery Johnson or Bill Self? Yeah, I'll go with Johnson. At least Johnson is use to NBA success.

The sec is serious about basketball and is as good or better than the big12 most years. Kansas is in the single most overrated basketball league in America. Ridiculously overhyped league.

It's easy to be confused about a kid choosing another school "out of nowhere" when all of your insiders and fans think you lead for every kid you're after.

Stop dragging these kids or other coaches through the mud and point the finger at your own reporters for feeding you gullible wannabes what you want to hear.

Who is dragging this kid or other coaches through the mud? Also, you just described every fan base.

The only thing that concerns me about these commits is it is more of the same "reject a blue blood so that you can go to a school and take 20 shots a game" nonsense as we saw last year with Malik Newman.

Ferguson turned down Kansas and UNC. Heron came right out and said what appealed to him most about Auburn's sales pitch was being featured in the offense.

Fultz is getting the same pitch from Washington. It would be nice if we could bring some kids early and get a couple of out-of the-blue commits ourselves, but apparently we're going to put everybody off until BBM again - even though that strategy was a complete bust last year.

If we strike out with BBM visitors again this year, I sincerely hope we re-evaluate that strategy. BBM is entertaining for recruits I'm sure, but there is just no way you can spend the time and dedicate the attention needed to make each recruit feel special on their visit.

Leading or close to leading for Alkins, Fox, Simmons and Monk must be terrible.

Pretty sure the record shows BBM has not proven to be all that effective as a recruiting tool, and perhaps that's one of the reasons. Not that it matters, Cal has signed great classes anyway, but I for one don't get particularly excited by hearing a recruit, like say Giles, is coming to BBM. I certainly don't blame the guys for taking advantage of on-campus visits, but tend to believe a lot of times that's all it is.

Explain to me how much better Mizzou got by joining the SEC...All of their starters from last year left. They were a possible #1 seed their last year in the Big12, they made the NCAA Tournament once since joining the SEC, their first year. They went 9-23 last year; they will be lucky to win two games this season. K-State which lost all of their starters from last season will be them by 20 points in Kansas City.

Chill the eff out.

You know you're a boss at recruiting when you can end up with the class we ended with and some of your fans can say it was a bust of a class. Thank god we have Cal. I honestly couldn't name you another coach in the country that could recover in such a way. When Murray finally suits up for Kentucky, every fan that wanted Newman as our go to guard on offense will question why Newman was ever our plan A recruit to begin with. Even when Cal appears to lose a guy, in the end, it always turns out to be a better situation for Kentucky.

But if that's what those kids want, they're never going to be successful here anyway, so it doesn't matter. Cal is NEVER going to coach in a manner that puts one player above everyone else. It goes against everything he believes. Not to mention, teams that have one player who dominates the ball are rarely successful.

We clearly have a formula that is successful. There will always be highly-ranked guys who want to be a part of that, Cal will find them, and we'll continue rolling. It's really not worth fretting over those who want instant glory elsewhere. Cal will find the guys who understand the long game.

Nobody said this was a bust of a class - I think Cal did an amazing job of scrambling at the last minute to pull together a great class. But he still had to scramble at the last minute, which I'm sure he's not thrilled about. While we were still recruiting 2015 guys in June/July, Duke was working 2016 guys.

From a recruiting perspective last year, BBM was an immense bust. There is no putting lipstick on that pig. We had Zimmerman, Newman, Bragg, etc. all there and they all went elsewhere. The year before we had Stanley Johnson at BBM and he immediately committed to Arizona afterwards.

BBM is great for the fans, and I think a great venue for underclassmen on unofficial visits, but I remain unconvinced that it is a good recruiting tool for senior recruits.

It's all about football.

Mizzou, like the rest of the SEC outside of the Bluegrass, is mainly concerned with the pigskin.

This is a major step for Avery Johnson on proving he's an elite type of coach. In college you can be a great teacher of basketball but it won't matter if you prove you can't recruit at an elite level. With him doing good things in the NBA coaching, it should translate nicely to college recruiting and with this huge pickup today, it looks like it will. It's nice to think that we may actually have some really good coaches in the sec for a change. The better the teams in the sec are, the more tested we will become during conference play and going into the NCAA tourney. Most fans poke fun at the sec and make jokes about the league, but I have a feeling all of that is about to change. If lsu's coach ever figures out coaching, that is a program with awesome potential as well. Most will have to see the results to believe this, but for once, our league actually has the potential to become a very good conference. It's been a long time since I could last say that with a straight face. Keep on reeling in the talent SEC.

Avery Johnson may do well at Bama. We will just have to wait and see how well.
