Tennessee with 18 level 1 violations

Hundreds of violations occurred in Tennessee football program over 3 seasons

Taking into consideration the board's guidance and the school's cooperation, the panel therefore declined to prescribe a postseason ban in this case. However, "to redress the severe and sustained misconduct" that occurred, the panel prescribes an enhanced financial penalty, with a fine of $8 million that is equivalent to the financial impact the school would have faced if it missed the postseason during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The panel also prescribed the legislated fine of $5,000 plus 3% of the football program budget and a fine to address the ineligible competition in the 2020 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl Game.

  • $8 million fine
  • Five years probation
  • Reduction of 28 scholarships over the terms of the probation, including at least two each year. Tennessee previously self-imposed 16 from the previous two seasons (12 in 2021 and four in 2022).
  • Reduction of 36 official visits over the term of the probation, including at least four per year. Tennessee must prohibit official visits at 10 regular-season home games, including four SEC games. (Tennessee previously self-imposed a reduction of seven official visits in 2021-22).
  • Reduction of 40 weeks of unofficial visits during term of probation, including at least six weeks per year and for at least 10 regular-season home games, four against SEC opponents. (Tennessee self-imposed six weeks in 2021 and two weeks in 2022).
  • A ban on recruiting communications totaling 28 weeks during the term of probation, including at least three weeks per year – one each in December and January and another from March to June.
  • Reduction in evaluation days by 120 over the term of probation. (Tennessee self-imposed 12 in the fall of 2021 and eight in the spring of 2022.)
  • Tennessee also cannot purchase any broadcast advertising for any postseason game in which it is involved this year.

That's $444K per violation.

Gonna play hell on secondary sports budgets b/c the FB budget sure as hell will not be reduced.
Considering they also have to pay 3% of the football budget, I'm sure some numbers fudging will occur to give the appearance they are reducing it.

I wonder how many different forums TN fans visited today to defend that rats nest of a program. I mean you have to try to get over to a basketball schools football forum. Suckers are like rats.

Everyone cheats y’all and has for decades. UT under Pruitt was just very bad at cheating. He was also very bad at coaching football and that is why he was caught or turned in rather.

Hope we can beat them in Lexington this year and take some shine off the ugly orange.

Times have changed our 10-1 team got a 2 year bowl ban and reduction of scholarships. Ruined our program for some time. Oh the horrors that UT is being put through Will they survive!! Lol

Did they miss on every single recruit they paid or what? I thought paying players resulted in vacated games.

The real loser of this is again Louisville basketball. I can’t say I’m sad about them
Losing a championship but they should have gotten UNC and Tenn lawyers.

Plowman is smiling while the school takes it up the butt. I guess it doesn't matter if you cheat and have no morals. She should be upset and making sure it doesn't happen again, but the rest of the stinky Orange goes along with her I guess.

This is a mole hill vs a mountain punishment for them. NCAA just keep sending the messages to all college sports cheating is just fine.

I get what they were doing was illegal at the time, and technically still illegal for coaches to had out money. But the amount of money changing hands was peanuts to what is going on now. I dislike the vols as much as anyone, more than most because it's a trash program in every sport not just one or two. But with what's going on today out in the open I don't think they should have been hit too hard, but I would have been OK if they got the death penalty.

They're one of, if not the worst, of the current offenders when it comes to paying players to entice enrollment (the only thing not allowed by the NCAA).

Also this is probably unfortunately a precursor to the basketball rulings too on the pre nil payments

After the last 100 or so years of being a leader in cheating and this is all they got... Thank you NCAA butt wipes, do your damn job or leave.... Time to form another FB only sanctioned lead to make up new rules to go by and make everyone that belongs stand by those rules... Tell the NCAA no more money from us and go crap to bed with the NAIA or some other crappy league...

This is how the University of Tennessee got off … the State of Tennessee flexed and the NCAA blinked

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti threatened legal action against the NCAA if it had given the University of Tennessee football team a postseason ban in the Jeremy Pruitt recruiting scandal, documents show.

The weapon was a new state law protecting college players’ right to earn money from name, image and likeness.

It was amended during the investigation to match UT’s needs. And it was leveraged by UT to produce a favorable verdict from the NCAA.

The NCAA did not give the Vols a bowl ban. So that legal battle won’t take place.

Well our Attorney General is an ex UL player, so do not look for any help or bluff tactics on our behalf. In fact shoot an EMT in their sleep and this guy will find a way to let dirty officers walk b/c he’s a D list actor with goals beyond his ability.

But they’ll settle a car jacking/ robbery and Knoxville will crown them king for “ beating”
the rap. Whilst out LPD cops are lurking to destroy our players.

The NCAA is a paper tiger/ emperor with no britchies/ inconsistent and biased. I just hate we were forced to comply with their rules while UNCheat- UT - oadMisst & Miami walk scott free.

No doubt about them being one of the worst. Would be the worst if they could afford it. Another in th East that is bad is Missouri. They don't buy many but they single 1 or 2 out and go after them. It was a WR last year, and they got him, supposedly their cash is coming from some Walmart heirs, but I thought they were Arkansas people.
