......that'd be none of 'em! March can't get here quick enough. I'm ready.

I'll probably get hammered for this but I'd like to avoid Indiana in the early rounds if we can. Any team that can shoot from the outside can potentially knock out Kentucky if they aren't hitting 3s themselves. IU is 7th in the country at 3 PT% at 41.1%. Add in the fact that our season ending to IU would be unbearable (especially because it would likely be in the Round of 32 or Sweet 16 aka early exit for this team), and I'd prefer they are placed in another region for sure.

Gonzaga is another team that I'd like to avoid for the same reason (shooting 40.5% from 3 plus losing to Wiltjer's team would suck) but we wouldn't face them until the Elite 8 at the earliest and at that point, every game is a battle.

Haha. I agree. No team really scares me. If we bring it on the defensive end, we will bring home #9

Id like to avoid:

IU - superbowl syndrome
UL - hack, grab, foul tactics. If theyre given favorable officiating, its a tough out. Also superbowl syndrome.
Duke - would have to play 8 on 5
KU - revenge factor. Plus the tendency to overlook them due to early season blowout.

With this team, I feel good about whoever we face. But I think those teams pose the biggest threats.

I would like to avoid teams we have already beaten as long as we can,let somebody else beat them..If we get all the 5-12 and 4-13 upsets out of the way we can clean up on whoever is left after our 1-16 and winner of 8-9 games.

Do you think we have one or two more gears to hit or are we what we are at this point?

I think we do. I think Cal is using most of the SEC schedule to experiment with the offense; almost like an offensive coordinator using scripted plays starting a football game. By the time we get to the NCAAs, Cal will know exactly what works and exactly what doesn't. This is only possible because this group of kids is so talented, so selfless, and so coachable.

I don't have a team in mind, but the teams that might bother us most are the coaches that Cal is friends with.

Perhaps the Crean incident resolved that issue, but I think that Cal likes Huggins and Frank Martin, who up until this weekend has been a bear to beat.

I hope we play/beat these guys, in order:

Mercer
Indiana
UL
Arizona
Gonzaga
Duke

May as well remove all doubt.

I hope you are right,if we can get more out of our bigs on offense then I think we get even harder to beat.In that area i think KAT,DJ and Lyles have more to give in the offense,we need more point production in the paint. If we can finish around the rim a little better there are very few teams that can deal with that.

I want the revenge tour

Connecticut, Duke, IU, Louisville, Kansas and North Carolina

the collective butt hurt on the internet could power 3 medium sized cities for a year

I haven't really seen them play, but I'm not sure I'd want to play Wichita St. this year. Those are talented four year kids who'd have incredible amount of motivation to beat UK.

Absolutely exactly. I'd much prefer that they get knocked out in round 1 by Belmont than take a chance on a fluky three point shooting barrage.

Don't want to play:

IU (tired of getting matched with them)
UL (see above)
Any SEC team

Teams I would like to play:

Virginia (to end speculation)
Duke (so we can personally limit K's win totals this season)
UCONN (eventually we have to be able to beat them and it will be sweet when we do).
Gonzaga (because they are soft as tissue and I think we will blast them). No team where KW is a star will beat us this year.

There is no one I fear, but definitely a few that can beat us even if we play reasonably well. And then there's always the chance we play a bad game, and some team plays a great one. That's what makes the tournament what it is.

IU wouldn't have a prayer. They shoot well, but not against our length.

If selection Sunday indicated that our path to the title could look like that, this forum would be in an absolute outrage. Obviously this wouldn't happen, but I'd venture to say that you don't REALLY want the revenge tour. Would certainly be the toughest road to a championship ever by a landslide.

we will be better off if we play teams that we have not played this year, or even last year.

Our size and length really defies comprehension unless you have seen it before; therefore whenever we a play a team for the first time, there is a little bit of "shock & awe" that gives us an advantage right out of the gate!

teams who we have played before will be at least psychologically prepared for this.

One thing you can guarantee based on historical selection committees:

We will more than likely have the toughest bracket, but it shouldn't matter who we play should it?

I hope we avoid every tough team and cruise to title #9...

I don't want to play Gonzaga, Louisville or Duke, because I couldn't stand the thought of losing to any of them.

We could handle the 96 Cats. They're all 40 now.

The 2012 Cats would be tough.

The 2010 Cats would be even tougher.

Wouldn't want to play Golden State right now either.

I'm not scared of UK playing anyone, but I think it would be hilarious to play UL again. Their meltdowns are good for about a week of entertainment.

Iowa State caused me some concern earlier this year, but do not seem too concerned now. I have basically relegated myself to the idea that as long as the Cats hustle and play good defense with intensity, then rest is going to take care of itself. It is very reasonable to think we will have a better offensive flow by the time the SECT tourney rolls around, which should be a nice preview as to how the Cats will look when hitting on all cylinders (sort of like the Mizzou game a few weeks ago).

Duke, and that's about it. The combination of Okafor and an otherwise talented cast is the reason.

Anyone else... bring 'em on.

KU is a team I'd only want to play in the final game if that's the way it wound up. We are better but I could see UK overlooking them in a pre Final Four game.

Virginia and Wisconsin.
I can't stand teams that play stall ball, it's boring. The NCAA needs to drop the shot clock down to 24 seconds already.

Haha, yeah its pretty funny, I just want to play everyone. My dream bracket would have Duke, UVA, and IU in it. You could always throw in the Dirty Birds and call it a day.

God could you imagine sending UL home yet again in the tournament?

Pitino might possibly retire after that one.

But I don't think they get that far. Could see them losing a 4/13 type game.

IU doesn't worry me, Cats would SHUT THEM DOWN. And they play no defense, might be a 90-65 type game.

just making threes doesn't mean a team can beat us.

They have to do a lot of other things well in order to beat us.

I think we'll be fine against any opponent.

I do think it's going to be a lot of teams with story.

Go back to the 2011 NCAA East regional, we upset top-ranked and overall #1 seed ohio State in the semi's, then take down a UNC team that beat us during the season. We make the Final Four, but almost lose in the very 1st rd. game to....PRINCETON !!

Whether we are 34-0 or 32-2, the pressure will be off. I think when the tournament starts we are locked and loaded.
It will take a monumental game for anyone to beat us. I fear no team.

Even though it was cool to beat Western, Indiana, Louisville and Kansas in 2012, I'd rather avoid that stress this time around. That Louisville game took years off my life because every charge/block call went their way. Give me games against teams like Gonzaga or Arizona where the media will talk all week about what a great chance the other team has and our players will be out to prove them wrong.

How about Va?
Dumb dumb forgot UVA. Swap them for Gonzaga. There is no ways the zags are getting that far anyway.

Pretty much how I feel. I would like to avoid all the teams that we have beaten during the season.
