Any team that can shoot from the outside can potentially knock out Kentucky if they aren't hitting 3s themselves. IU is 7th in the country at 3 PT% at 41.1%. Add in the fact that our season ending to IU would be unbearable (especially because it would likely be in the Round of 32 or Sweet 16 aka early exit for this team), and I'd prefer they are placed in another region for sure.
Gonzaga is another team that I'd like to avoid for the same reason (shooting 40.5% from 3 plus losing to Wiltjer's team would suck) but we wouldn't face them until the Elite 8 at the earliest and at that point, every game is a battle.
I would like to avoid teams we have already beaten as long as we can,let somebody else beat them..If we get all the 5-12 and 4-13 upsets out of the way we can clean up on whoever is left after our 1-16 and winner of 8-9 games.Originally posted by bigblueinsanity:
Id like to avoid:
IU - superbowl syndrome
UL - hack, grab, foul tactics. If theyre given favorable officiating, its a tough out. Also superbowl syndrome.
Duke - would have to play 8 on 5
KU - revenge factor. Plus the tendency to overlook them due to early season blowout.
With this team, I feel good about whoever we face. But I think those teams pose the biggest threats.
I think we do. I think Cal is using most of the SEC schedule to experiment with the offense; almost like an offensive coordinator using scripted plays starting a football game. By the time we get to the NCAAs, Cal will know exactly what works and exactly what doesn't. This is only possible because this group of kids is so talented, so selfless, and so coachable.Originally posted by docholiday51:

Do you think we have one or two more gears to hit or are we what we are at this point?
I hope you are right,if we can get more out of our bigs on offense then I think we get even harder to beat.In that area i think KAT,DJ and Lyles have more to give in the offense,we need more point production in the paint. If we can finish around the rim a little better there are very few teams that can deal with that.Originally posted by bigblueinsanity:

Absolutely exactly. I'd much prefer that they get knocked out in round 1 by Belmont than take a chance on a fluky three point shooting barrage.Originally posted by FiveStarCat:

If selection Sunday indicated that our path to the title could look like that, this forum would be in an absolute outrage. Obviously this wouldn't happen, but I'd venture to say that you don't REALLY want the revenge tour. Would certainly be the toughest road to a championship ever by a landslide.Originally posted by TankedCat:

Connecticut, Duke, IU, Louisville, Kansas and North Carolina
the collective butt hurt on the internet could power 3 medium sized cities for a year

I hope we play/beat these guys, in order:
Mercer
Indiana
UL
Arizona
Gonzaga
Duke
May as well remove all doubt.
Dumb dumb forgot UVA. Swap them for Gonzaga. There is no ways the zags are getting that far anyway.Originally posted by JC CATS:

Pretty much how I feel. I would like to avoid all the teams that we have beaten during the season.Originally posted by TubbysTabbys:
Even though it was cool to beat Western, Indiana, Louisville and Kansas in 2012, I'd rather avoid that stress this time around. That Louisville game took years off my life because every charge/block call went their way. Give me games against teams like Gonzaga or Arizona where the media will talk all week about what a great chance the other team has and our players will be out to prove them wrong.
