This was not yet posted in its own thread but Roswell, Ga., linebacker Tyrone Hopper committed to UNC today. Not a big surprise for while Kentucky was included in his recently released top seven, you'll recall that immediately before that I had posted that UNC, Virginia Tech and Louisville were standing out. Hopper is a Shelby, N.C., native so that explains part of it. They also have a big need at linebacker transitioning to a 4-3 from a 4-2-5 defense.
Kash Daniel is obviously significant and I spoke with Chris Clark of GamecockCentral.com here on Rivals.com/Yahoo! Sports today and according to him sources on the South Carolina side really don't know what Daniel is going to do either. There's the timing, which gives the Gamecocks some optimism, but in today's world of calculating recruits you never know whether the "too obvious" is too obvious. And Tucky to BC could have also impacted Daniel's timing, upon learning that they wouldn't both be jammed on the depth chart.
It was posted here in another thread (thank you, folks) that TJ Brunson will consider Kentucky. Brunson wanted to commit to South Carolina earlier this year but don't take that as a sign that he can't play. He's a good linebacker. I'm a big fan of those 6-foot linebackers that some staffs write off, because much the same way I believe quarterbacks lacking cannons are sometimes undervalued (you don't NEED that in college), there have been tons of examples of undersized but insanely productive college linebackers.
