UK basketball commitment Tai Wynyard has led his New Zealand team to the quarterfinals of the FIBA 3-on-3 world championships, and the squad’s game against Russia should be shown live in the video player linked.

The game is scheduled to start around 10 a.m., ET Sunday. Wynyard — a 6-foot-10 post player in the class of 2016 — wears uniform No. 11 for the New Zealand squad

I'm thinking a good comparison for Tai is a very poor man's Tyler Hansbrough - the strength, aggression, and mobility on the court is very similar and I think more reminiscent of Hansbrough than Harrelson.

That's not saying he'll will be anywhere near the impact player that Hansbrough was, but he sure reminds me of him.

Haven't seen 3 on 3 tournaments before. Not very entertaining, and the announcer guy sounds like it's his first gig ever.

USA loses to France. I guess that Felton kid is the one going to UNCheat. Didn't look like much.

Wynyard get last bucket. NZ whips Spain to win 21-8. Will play winner of France-Argentina for all the marbles.

I thought Wynyard looked good. Strong around the basket, needs to learn to block out better. Showed some nice passing skills.

Impressive considering his age. Just imagining how good he could be by the time he's a junior in college.

If, like Hansbrough, Tai can:

1) hack away, but not get fouls called on him
2) shift his feet 5-6 times while holding the ball, but not get a walking call
3) fall down on the floor 2 feet away from the opposing player, but the opposition gets called for a foul

Then, Cal should play him 40 minutes per game.

I like what I've seen too. The tall forward on his team, Freeman, a shooter, is supposed to prep in the US. If things work out with Wynyard I could see UK looking at him too.

NZ vs. Argentina in the finals. Stick to the link above for bronze medal game, championship game, shooting contest and dunk contest,

Argentina really turned it on against France. Have a feeling they will beat NZ in the finals. Announcer is cracking me up. Sounds like Borat.

Final game coming up in a bit.
As far as Wynyard goes, I like what I've been seeing. A lot of teams have been doubling up on him, and he still makes nice passes or finds ways to score. We have a good one.

NZ wins in a tight game. Wynyard had at least three blocks including one that put an Argentinian on his behind.

Really knows his way around the basket. Needs to work on his jumper but I like him.

Crow is a delicacy in some parts of the world. Enjoy.

Reason 1385 I love my fellow BBN brethren, they tune in to a 3on3 tournament and provide analysis on a recruit....in June...from a 3on3 format...when said recruit is not even in the upcoming season's class.

Never too early and never not important.

Love the above quote. I'm weighing in having not even seen a second of the 3 on 3. Just the fact that the kid is a young 17 and getting it done in weight room to slim down and getting it done in a wanky international tourney I'm gonna take as big positives.

Kid has the potential to be a beast. Probably a top 30ish recruit in the '16 class. I think 24/7 sports ranks him 70 something. That's way too low. He's physically ready to play right now. Good footwork, nimble, good back to the basket game, with a developing mid range game. And plays with a Tyler Hansborough type intensity. He could help quite a bit this season. Hopefully everything works out and he plays the 2nd semester.

Looks like a kid who was recruited to be a 4 year player and provide depth off the bench. Very solid pick up.
