On this board and the free board, seems to be a lot of chatter about how it was an ugly win, not impressive, etc.
Pretty surprised to read that. Honestly, I went to the game, and when we clinched it with the late interception, asked the fans around me, "Now, where the hell has THAT team been all year??" Just my opinion, but I thought it was the most complete, best game we played all year. Clearly we caught a break when Malik couldn't play much, and then Caleb Chandler went out as well, but still, +3 in TOs, four QB sacks, four (4!!) made FGs without a miss, burned the clock down effectively in the 4th quarter, and after their first possession, Louisville never had the ball and a chance to tie the whole 2nd half. In short, a routine and pretty easy win, had it well under control from the TD in the 3rd quarter to the final buzzer. Was really happy for Ruffalo to get the MVP, he has taken a lot of [crap] from fans (like me) and by his own admission, had a really rough year, but it had to make him feel a lot better after the UL game.
To be sure, we did not look like the 85 Bears yesterday, or at any point in the season, but lets get real, we have a pretty good team, just not a great team like we were hoping to have.
The main regret I will take away from the season is the Vandy loss, who got beat 55-0 by Georgia and 56-0 by UT. Had the lead twice in the 4th quarter, then had them 4th and long twice in the final drive and let them pull out a miracle. Win that game and we are 8-4 and the season looks a whole lot better. Sure we could have, maybe should have won the Mississippi game, but just as easily could have, and maybe should have lost the Missouri game, those two sort of even out to me. It is just a shame how many regular seasons in the last 20 years have ended at 7-5 (SEVEN since 2002 by my count) when several could have been a game or two better.
