> Shooooooooooweeeee!!!! Sounds like there's a QB competition once again, folks. The heralded young recruit Barker versus the SEC veteran and equally touted Towles. Towles took his lumps last year, but with the experience he gained in the SEC, he should definitely have the edge. Towles has the arm we all thought he had and at times showed incredible accuracy. Both have shown incredible leadership according to the coaches and I look forward to seeing who wins out.

> George Asafo-Adjei is a BEAST. Dear sweet Baby Jesus, he has the body of a college Junior and he should still be in high school. Let that sink in. He's already made the two-deep and should anchor an OLine that sorely needed talent last year.

> Kengera Daniel and Denzil Ware. Again, I don't know what Korem is feeding our boys, but it is working. Are you KIDDING ME!? Ware gained THIRTY pounds? He's now almost as big as Bud! Unbelieveable.

> Badet is back and scorching the secondary like we remember.

> Our secondary is making plays again. Knock on wood, I would not be disappointed if our secondary made plays this year like they did last year.

> LINEBACKERS!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!!!! Hatcher should make a sizable leap in production this year under the tutelage of Buh. I think once our OLBs can successfully and consistently set the edge, our defense will flourish. I hope that starts with having a coach specifically to teach the nuances of that position..

> Stoops wants Kemp. Who the Hell didn't? Horton is showing much more burst and production so far from what we've heard. All he has to do is learn to hold the ball and he could be absolutely lethal. Boom, try to start practicing, bud.

> Dawson has installed his air-raid in 3 days. Sound familiar? Hopefully, with this new scheme, Stoops won't try to meddle with the play calling as much. Dawson should provide ample running plays to suit Stoops' desires for a hard-nosed offense while also staying true to the passing spread.

> Coaches are overall happy with how the guys are performing so far and the media is impressed.

> Still waiting on a certain QB recruit to commit any day.... I hope.

> Can't wait to see how our defense aligns this fall. I love the multiple looks but I hope we stay in a base 4-3 often, especially if our DLine can't get push like last year.

> In non-football news, the MBB team is still undefeated

> We've got the talent, and now we have to coach it up and get it experience. We can do some good things this year, you all. The pieces are falling into place.

Mashup Question: Which area of the defense do you think will be most improved? Line, linebackers, nickel/hybrid, or secondary. How do you think this affects our defensive alignments? Will we have to stay multiple with 5-2-4, 4-2-5, and all the weird alignments or will we be able to assert dominance with a base 4-3 or 3-4 and stick with it?

Have a great weekend, a safe (but fun) Spring Break, and I hope to see you all back here next Sunday! Go Big Blue!!!

Is he injured? All I heard was that he missed one day of practice due to an academic obligation.

You're right. I thought there was an injury as well but there isn't. I'll make the change. Thanks for catching that.

I guess it depends on if you wanted to put Dupree with the linebackers or the D-line since he played 50/50 hand up/down.
If you had him with the D-line than I would say the linebackers would be the most improved group. You have no losses there so you get Flannigan, Henderson & Forrest back with another year of experience and physical development, you add a top notch transfer in Love and the 3 talented redshirts for depth in Hendrix, Firios and Walker. That should make this a very solid unit this season.

Also the safeties will be greatly helped with the addition of Edwards and West two very talented redshirts. The overall defense will have a lot more talent and depth than last years unit despite the loss of Dupree and Smith.

As for the alignment, listening to some of our experts like RV - I think we see more base 3/4 multiple this year.

No travelling so far, but I did just about break several bones already. Must be a sign of good things to come.

This is it good news to me. A true freshman o lineman is our online anchor. This is the SEC!! George Asafo-Adjei is a BEAST. Dear sweet Baby Jesus, he has the body of a college Junior and he should still be in high school. Let that sink in. He's already made the two-deep and should anchor an OLine that sorely needed talent last year.

Given our OLine the past two years, who were you expecting to help anchor it? West has had the injury bug, Swindle is inconsistent and his athleticism is questionable, nobody else has played a lot consistently except maybe Meyers (sp?). Toth has been the lone bright spot but even then, he's not blowing anyone away. Our starting OLine is looking to be Swindle, West, Toth, Adjei, and Meadows. Not bad but that right side is inexperienced. Talented, but inexperienced. So yeah, it's not good news, but it's better news than what we've had.

If we can get a few more parts in place here we can take that next step to 7 wins next year, once stoops gets on the map a little more maybe we can get back to the late Curci years minus the NCAA problems.I would take 1977 all over again in a couple of years.

It is very good that True Freshman OL Adjei is very talented and might even start. It is bad news that the more experienced offensive line men can not prevent that from happening.

Experience and continuity on the OL is extremely important and it is never good if you have Freshmen breaking into the starting line up . Maybe good for the long term but bad for the short term.

It is not a good sign that West still has lingering effects from his injuries.

Our O-line was terrible last year. I'm willing to give up some experience to have better talent up there.

Same. I'd rather have both but when that isn't an option, I would rather have talent. Talent grows up. Experience IS grown up.

There was little experience in the interior of the UK OL last season. I am hoping with another year to get bigger and stronger and have a better understanding of the offense that they will be much better this season. I hope Andji can come in as a true Freshman and do a great job on the OL but in my experience that seldom happens. Him having come early and gone through spring training will help. He must be very mature physically and very talented for the coaching staff to even consider playing him this season. There is another thing and that is I hope him being considered to start doesn't mean that the coaching staff is disappointed with the redshirted OLs.
