I should know, but I must be missing something...
We have 13 scholarships to offer.
How many guys were on scholarship this season? Was it 13 or only 12? I thought Diallo made 13.
To graduation, we lose Willis, Hawkins, and Mulder. (-3)
To NBA, we're definitely losing Fox and Monk for now. (-2)

We have signed Green, Vanderbilt, Richards, Washington, and Alexander. (+5)
We are still looking to sign Bamba and a mystery shooter. (+2)

By my count, assuming we sign Bamba and another 2G, we're at 15.
Are we expecting Briscoe to leave? And are we expecting a transfer or another player to go?
If Bam and Briscoe decide to stay, are we done recruiting?
Are my numbers off?

FR (5)
Quade Green
Nick Richards
P.J. Washington
Shai Alexander
Jarred Vanderbilt

SO (4)
Sasha Killeya-Jones
Hamidou Diallo
Wenyen Gabriel
Tai Wynyard (RS)

JR (2)
Isaiah Briscoe
Isaac Humphries

This obviously assumes that Briscoe, Humphries, Gabriel and SKJ return. It would still leave Kentucky with 2 open scholarships, with the possibility an extra one for each of those guys who does not return.

The conclusion? Cal is far from done adding players for next year. Between remaining recruits and possible graduate transfers/regular transfers, could be 4 more players.

The OP started out with an incorrect count. Even counting Diallo, we only had 12 on scholarship this year. If there was a 13th, it was just a year-to-year thing given to a walk-on (David, Pulliam or Calipari) since one was available.

So IF everyone eligible returned (not named Monk or Fox) then we would have 7 (12-3-2) returning scholarship players (including Diallo). Add in the 5 committed FR (not including Diallo) and that puts us at 12. Bamba & mystery shooter would make 14. But if no one else leaves, then the mystery shooter simply won't be brought in.

Doubt it's Tai. Seems like he's the surest of the returnees (other than Diallo) to return.

SKJ would probably greatly benefit from transferring. Just really don't see him getting any PT, at least this coming season. Sitting out and learning a new system with no pressure seems like a good way to go for him.

Yep, that's one error for sure. I was at 13, but it was only 12. Thanks Jonathan.

Best case scenario, 6 return, we have 5 coming in and we sign 2 more new players (preferably Bamba and either Baker or Smith). That's a lot of inexperience, but I think we could hold serve early with Briscoe, Humphries, Gabriel, Diallo, SKJ and Wynyard being guys who have been through it before.

Ok, so, if nobody else leaves, this is what we will have on scholarship...

Freshmen (5)
Jarred Vanderbilt F 6'8" 200
Quade Green PG 6'0" 165
Shai Alexander CG 6'5" 180
Nick Richards C 6'11" 235
P.J. Washington F 6'7" 230

Sophomores (5)
3 Edrice Adebayo F Sophomore 6'10" 260 lbs
4 Hamidou Diallo G Sophomore (RS) 6'5" 190 lbs
14 Tai Wynyard F Sophomore (RS) 6'10" 254 lbs
32 Wenyen Gabriel F Sophomore 6'9" 213 lbs
1 Sacha Killeya-Jones F Sophomore 6'10" 230 lbs

Juniors (2)

13 Isaiah Briscoe G Junior 6'3" 210 lbs
15 Isaac Humphries F Junior 7'0" 255 lbs

That would leave one open scholarship for Mo Bamba, unless another player declares or transfers.
My opinion: I think Briscoe is about to be the next guy to take off. That's just a hunch.
If he leaves, then the door would be open for that "mystery shooter" to come in.
Also, I expect Bam will move up after workouts and will go ahead and leave.

I expect Bam and Briscoe to leave which will leave us with three open scholarships. Hopefully they are taken by Knox, Bamba, Smith/Baker. If Knox goes elsewhere then I could see Bamba, Smith, and Baker.

Bam is gone, Briscoe too. To me the ideal situation is add Bamba, Cam Johnson, and one of Smith/Baker. We get a rim protector, a proven scorer from the ACC with 2 years left, and a shooter/utility guy (depending on which we pick up). Seems like the perfect scenario. I do think one of SKJ, Tai, and Hump leave as well. Humps comments make it sound like he may be (or was) on the fence about exploring other options. Tai seems like the odd man out to me...

Don't ever worry about scholarships. Someone will have reality explained to them (SKJ/TW/IH)

I don't understand the benefit to him. If he has to sit a year, then play, he could just as easily do that here. In fact, it's very unlikely he doesn't get some playing time here. He has skills. He would certainly contribute here as a jr., so why go somewhere else for the same affect but on a smaller stage?
