1st Season - 7-24 Loss - Lexington
2nd Season - 30-36 Loss - OT - Gainesville
3rd Season - 9-14 Loss - Lexington

Three seasons - three losses.

But each game has been competitive. The last two games we have had a legitimate chance to win the fourth quarter. Last year's game many argue we actually did win - of course the truth is UF should have had a more difficult 4th down conversion attempt making the win more likely.

So, despite all the had wringing the past two days, what is the actual verdict on the first 3 cracks at Florida under Coach Stoops? Has he overachieved? Underachieved?

I'd argue that his teams have actually overachieved in this series. Certain aspects of each game have been disappointing (drops, protection, untimely interceptions, etc.) but those are part of football. Florida has had more talent and more depth in each football game. But the past two seasons we've had a legit chance to win the game.

I'm extremely disappointed we did not pull it out this week. But I'm not going to hit the panic button - we have a great coach and staff and they have this ship heading in the right direction. I'm going to sit back and enjoy this season.

problem is UF in the last two seasons may be the worst we'll see out of them for awhile...

gotta hope we improve as well.. we have the talent in the skill positions & idc what defense we're up against we should be able to move the ball better then we did against UF and the 2nd half against USCjr

So you are expecting UK to not get better as well... I do

Yep.

Maybe UF isn't as bad this year as the common thought around here suggests. Seems like their D may be hitting stride under their new coach, and the offense is young with a ton of room to grow.

But with a D like that, they will play some very close games this year.

At this point, I see no reason they won't be in the thick of the SEC East race this year. In fact, they are favored over UT this weekend.

Technically, we beat Florida last year.

Practically we beat Florida last year, the bumbled interception our DB not only didn't catch but that also popped right into the WRs hands that he not only caught but also advanced for a big gain that not only gained a first down but also set up a short TD drive, the one that not only should have been an interception but also a pick six, a swing of FOURTEEN POINTS.

And that is, of course. only one of many plays that could have turned out better and made the difference in the game.

But fans need to quit making themselves look like sore losers by complaining about the "missed" delay of game which "might" have cost us the game, according to the mechanics the BJ was obliged to follow no way he could have called a delay that might have been (hard to tell with slow motion, stop action, numerous reruns, etc, etc) only 0.1 second late, and which I believe was probably actually on time. Too close to call, and definitely too close to overturn.

Just one UK fans opinion that it "might" have been on time, but there were slow motion analyses that made me think it was on time, and I have heard several others that watched it that agreed with my conclusion.

Get over it. Probably bigger goofs and bad plays that cost us the game yesterday (no doubt) also, if you are going to win you have to overcome adversity. And yes, officials miss calls, doubt if any of them are on purpose.

We didn't beat UF under Zook or Muschamp either. Very competitive with a Florida team that still has more talent than us and a better coach than those two. We must remember that we are playing 19 true and redshirt freshman and a very significant number of sophomores. That a huge number of very young, inexperienced players. The future is bright. Live and learn from this disappointing loss and move on. I think we beat Mizzou and end up 4-1 in a couple of weeks. Raise your hand if you would take that record after the 1st 5 games. We can still legitimately hope to win the rest of our home games (or at least all but one or two of them) and beat Vandy on the road. I see 7-5 and even 8-4 as a distinct possibility.

UK fans want basketball turn arounds...first year..he had pretty much kids off the street..year 2, too young but much improved even though many were playing out of position on D to compensate, yr 3 right there...people lose. I know UK fans hate to hear that on year 3...but those years and years of losses have nothing to do with Mark Stoops or these kids. What happened in the 80s and 90s, and your misery, has nothing to do with them. They had the opportunity to and didn't put it together..but they also had every right to win it and will continue to get better. Look at it as a loss, not a 29 game losing streak..because the steak is what it is to u..not them.

If I were a gator fan I would be baiting Ky fans because my team is no longer a factor in the national picture.

The nice thing about the S.I. 'Mountain Top' of college sports is that Gator fans have more than one team. UF also has way more total SEC-C's than any anybody, and it's not even close.... o_O

Now you have a real nice day/week/month/season/year,,, ya-hear! :ear:

Spoken like a true Ky. fan. And folks wonder why the rest of the SEC makes fun of us regarding football.
I went to Columbia for the South Carolina game. I can promise you that no one I encountered made fun of UK Football.

And you realize, since 2012, them and Vandy are the only SEC teams we've beaten, right?
Keep watching. Rome was not built in a day. Stoops has done a tremendous job with the rubble he was left 3 years ago. I'll go out on a limb and say we'll have a few more SEC wins this season. Like I said, keep watching.

Dear Heavens folks......A close loss to a struggling SEC power program is not a win, "technically..."practically" or otherwise. It is........A LOSS!! No asterisks, no moral victories, no extra credit, no "we're so close, I know we'll get 'em next year."
The last three years are squandered opportunities and three more years on the streak....no more...certainly no less. They were bitter, painful losses. Rationalizations in search of "silver linings" and hoping for continued down years at UF and a "sneak up" opportunity is loser talk....a loser's mentality.
"Wait till basketball season" is even worse.
Our expectations are shamefully low.

I've got to disagree with this to an extent. If you think this staff was never going to lose a game that we thought they should win, you will continue to be disappointed. All schools over time will lose some games that they think they should win. We've obviously already won a couple that people thought were likely losses. Don't forget, we were still underdogs to UF according to Vegas. We were also underdogs at South Carolina. See how that works?

It is a loss. People like you want dwell on the loss instead of moving on to the Missouri game. No matter how much you bitch about it isn't going to change the result.
