I have a colleague that was close to the Stoops hiring process and below is the plan Stoops presented:
Recruit linemen from Ohio and then build around that. His thinking was that there was a very large amont of line talent in Ohio- mostly Offensive-- and ultimately by sheer numbers UK would be very deep and stout. This would be where he would focus.
He would simultaniously lock down KY and get the top 4-5 players here. Ideally this is where the QB would come from based on the quality that KY produces at this position.
Finally, he would attract speed, skill and D line players from the South and elsewhere. He would attrack them based on being able to play in the SEC from outside the South and from inside the South he would position the the excellent and consistent line they would play behind and all the positives of BBN as a support base.
This is very second hand information so please take it as that.
