This is why I like Stoops. He's always hungry. Talking about how he was frustrated about how difficult it was to get in sync and not happy with execution.

Good to hear and I hope it improves.

Although he also kinda apologized for the score at the last minute. Which whatever man. It's part of the game. Don't apologize for that.

1. Stoops is right....it was a poor game offensively.
2. Could not control LOS on offensive oline
3. Defense was great at times....but 2nd half got drove on with short passes.
4. Defense was not really solid at tackling either.

But UK is never sharp in game 1.....so I like Stoops attitude and confident we'll have better performances as the year wares on.

It’s possible for sure, but Leary has to be 100% better for that to happen. If he plays like he did today against better teams we will be lucky to win 7.

Most people understand what we saw which is a team that basically underestimated their opponent and came out flat and unfocused. It was evident by the early penalties and missed assignments that these guys thought this would be a cake walk so their intensity and focus was t where it needed to be. It can be cleaned up and often is, basically why our season openers look like this then we drill UF or someone in our first conference game. We’ll be okay.

Stoops mentioned something about it. But apparently the Ball State coach was very animated when it happened and was mock clapping at Stoops and the UK sideline. That's pretty pathetic in my book. No football coach should ever fault a team for scoring, especially when your defense practically lets them.

It also wasn't a 50 point blowout at that point; and the RB only had like 12 touches at that point. Can't gripe at another team for trying to get reps on Wk 1.

I don't think it's a major controversy or anything but it was still kind of tacky.

If he’s going to be mad at somebody he should be mad at his own players/coaches. It’s the first game of the season. Teams far and wide are attempting to get their team going early on in the season. You don’t want to get blown out, even through the 4th quarter, don’t schedule an SEC team.

That last score was probably the biggest gift the Ball State coach could've gotten from UK. His players ought to have a chip on their shoulder after being embarrassed at how they played the play. They won't let up again late in a game if their coach is worth a dime.

I don't care what the score is. I don't care if there is 1 second left on the clock. You're out there for 60 minutes of action, so you better play some frkn football. It's like jumping into a busy highway and expecting someone not to run you over.

Its football. TACKLE SOMEONE. Either they're going to score, or you're gonna get hurt.

Anyway the last time I heard of Stoops getting barked at for scoring a meaningless TD at the end of the game was Smart @ Georgia two years ago. On both occasions the score was necessary to beat the spread - hmmmmm

I’d get it if we were taking shots at the endzone. But we ran it up the guy and Davis bouncer it out and took it to the house from 30 yards out. That’s on their D for giving up a big play on a “run out the clock w running plays” possession.

Meh, if UK had been sharp we could have hung 60 on Ball State. In fact, several SEC teams did just that against inferior competition on Sat. afternoon. Who cares what the BSU coach says or thinks. I think I heard during the broadcast they will face Georgia next week? LOL! They may not even make across mid field.
Stoops has lots of film to show his guys and plenty to work on. He's paid $9 mil to fix the problems, now he can go earn that money. I expect big improvement on both sides of the ball next week.

I’ve always said we have a tendency to look sloppy in the first game regardless of the final score. How we respond in week two will be key.

When Petrino did that, I didn’t have a problem with it. The offense goes on the field to score, the defense goes on the field to stop them.
