Stoops gets the last laugh

This is probably the most talented UK roster since records have been kept and the coaching staff may be the best in the Stoops era, so it's not like Stoops isn't doing the things he needs to do to move the team up the ladder, but the tangible improvements have to convert to wins. The higher up the ladder you go the harder it is to take the next step.

LoL some of yall are dumb or silly or both. Mark Stoops is untouchable, barring a Petrino-level off the field scandal. He can 7-6 for the next 10 yrs and the only feedback he will recieve from his boss & his bosses boss is more raises.

Just watch bitter Calipari at his introductory Hog press conference make some crack about being glad to have a REAL SEC football team to support and cheer for. Guaranteed, he won't pass up the opportunity to take a shot at the man who outlasted him & whooped his ass in the press & social media 2 yrs ago.

This may not fall here but Cal related. How are all the BB fans feel, the ones ready to blow 50m on firing Cal and hiring a new BB coach? Want it done that night, to hell with all the other programs, and Mitch gone too if he didn't. And here we are 2 weeks later, Cal is gone, Mitch saved UK 33m to use in hiring a new coach. He doesn't look too dumb today does he?

Only relevant response would come from WIldcats1st.

All my family/friends are quite happy at the outcome. he's gone and we saved the money. as well as avoiding the depressing outcome of firing a coach that was at first so beloved, and won us a banner.

He outlasted Cal. Let's hope he has a good relationship with whomever the new coach is. This place is best when all boats are sailing in the same direction.
It is obvious Stoops does not want to be here. Watch his interviews. He seems insincere and disinterested, even kinda angry. He wanted to leave, but couldn’t pull it off. He is stuck here.

This year’s team is an incredibly-experienced team. Just take a look at the current projected depth charts. This year may be a decent year, but 2025 looks like a really tough season, unless there is tremendous portal activity …

We own the head to head series against Arkansas. In FOOTBALL

Stoops tried to leave and failed to do so.

He is good for 7 and 5 each year minimum and that's a credit to him. We know we aren't winning anything that matters so that's good based on our less than stellar history.

Super glad Cal is gone. Guess cal didn't like being upstaged by new women's coach.

I don’t think he doesn’t want to be here. He is just tired of working with the choir boy of all ADs. He wants to take the next step and Barnhart is always 2 years behind. NIL, Beer revenue, upgrades and a little shadiness are all years too late. You gotta be ahead of the curve, not behind it.

For sure. Stoops accomplished more here than the Duke guy did. It was weird when that guy turned out to be the A&M hire
I think Elko is a pretty good coach, but honestly if I had my choice I would take Stoops over Elko. I still can't believe they spent something like 77M to get rid of a guy that won a Natty and hire one of his assistants that had a total of 1 year head coaching experience.

He left for Texas A&M, only to be locked out by the fans. He came back with his tail between his legs, Like George Costanza.

"You thought I quit? Ha Ha."
Neither of us know the details of the A&M job. A&M says one thing which serves their purposes and Stoops says another which serves his purposes. We will likely never know the real story. And even if he did try to leave, he still shouldn't be on the chopping block. People take different jobs every day.

Was going to say the same thing, we’re 5-3 head to head and in Stoops eleven years we’ve finished ahead of them seven times in the conference and tied twice. Just goes to show what an arrogant ****face Cal was, never could stand that dude.
I have a good friend that played in the 1990s under Curry.! He said Pitino basically did what he could to take attention off football. We were terrible, but in comments and such Pitino hated football. Idk why else. Maybe because Newton and Curry were close. The main reason I can’t stand Pitino either now or when he was here.

He is what he is and that is not much.

This makes no sense to me since he's the one who brought in & developed this team & who is doing a good 2025 recruiting job imo. I mean he's not acting like he doesn't want to be here by those actions.

Fair, but I am happy with the streak of 3 straight against UF. Hoping for 4 this year! Imagine that 10-15 years ago, that we would have 3 straight and favorites for a 4th. None of us would've predicted that IMO.

That is funny and probably true. Got Cal's panties in a bunch! GOOOOO!

He sure would!

Not so sure about that, the guy they hired looked like panic hire. The entire thing looked like ATM was set to bring CMS in and the uproar by the fans caused CMS to rethink the move. Why would ATM hire a guy with less success in a weaker conference? Because everyone higher on their board said no, including CMS

Don’t talk common sense here a couple of people make up stuff then believe what they make up and are willing to fight about it . The new normal don’t believe what you see , yours eyes lie because the scene doesn’t fit the story you want to believe.

UK's SEC schedule is the toughest in the last 25 years. 4 wins against this SEC schedule will be outstanding. 7-5 this year will be tough. Anything above will be overachieving. Early over/under is 5.5. Record may not be the best indicator. Competitive scores and no blowouts may be the best measure.

It's 6.5, not 5.5.
