It was made a big deal that Dawson would get to call the offenses plays back when he was first hired. Some (many?) of us thought the play calling was too conservative, predictable and had the offense bogged down. Was this the major problem? Others? Anybody know what the payout to Dawson will be? I guess substantial, about $1mil+.
I've taken grief here and elsewhere for criticizing Dawson's game plan and play calling but since it was so bad, I expect that Stoops is fully aware of how bad it really was. Failure to develop either of our four star QBs is a serious shortcoming that has to be shared by more than Dawson, including the players themselves.
I imagine that Patrick now regrets his decision to transfer, however.
In his 4th season, Stoops will be using a 3rd OC and he must get a great one, but that gets a bit tricky since Stoops himself won't be our fair haired boy if the team doesn't improve a great deal. And even when we recruit better, it's still a tough battle when teams in the SEC pull in the top ranked classes and UK is still down around 10th in the league when the countin's done. UK is a difficult place for football, but the problems could mostly be out the window for now with a break-even SEC record next year, along with a win over the Cards. Wouldn't that be grand?
Reckon this gives credence to the chatter about Bo moving into Lexington?
